Lexi's POV

"We have to go." Mahogany said to us.

"What about everyone else?" I asked, over the chatter of people talking and the orchestra playing.

"Just try to find the people from your limo group and then get in your limo." She said, walking away.

"Lexi, we have to split up." Kian said. I looked at him.

"Ok..." I unwillingly agreed. I walked towards the ballroom, thinking that's where most of the people here congregated. Kian walked off in the opposite direction. I made my way through the crowd to the other side of the room. I spotted Devin and reached my way to him. His face lit up when he saw me. But then again, like Matt told me, all the guys like me.

"Hey Lex." He smiled.

"Devin we have to find the rest of our group." I said, grabbing his hand and pulling him out of the room.

"Why?" He questioned.

"We need to leave." I stated simply, not wanting to explain it for fear of someone overhearing. We were walking around for about ten more minutes and could only find Hayes and Nash. Hoping Kian had rounded up Jc, Ethan, and Gilinsky, we headed outside, and I making sure we didn't lose any of them on the way out of the house. I saw Kian and when I reached him, he hugged me tightly.

"I'm okay, Kian." I said. He kissed my cheek. I was hoping none of the guys would say anything about Kian and I, because I wouldn't know how to explain us. We were given the 'ok' by Mahogany and we got in our limo and the driver left the gala.

"So what is going on?" Devin asked, as soon as we took off.

"James and his brother took Sam." I said, trying not to panic, feeling calmer when Kian put his hand on my back, rubbing it gently.

"Those bastards." Gilinsky said.

"Well where are we going now?" Ethan asked, sounding super uptight and pissed off.

"Back to the house. Mahogany doesn't want all of us going to try to get her back." Nash said. I snapped my attention to him when he said that.

"Try? They're going to get her back, they aren't just going to try to get her. They will." I said. The guys were silent.

"I'm sorry." I mumbled.

"We get it, you're just worried." Jc said, taking a sip of champagne. I don't know how he could be drinking right now, given the situation we're in right now. But whatever floats your boat Justin.

We didn't say much on the way back to the house. When we got there, the others were already there. I went upstairs to change. It felt different without Sammy. I felt vulnerable. Lonely. I changed into the pair of ripped jeans and a t-shirt that Devin got me. I walked back downstairs and found Kian, sitting on the couch, watching TV. I sat on the couch, and laid down, my head in his lap. We just stayed there, him playing with my hair, me mindlessly staring into space.

I guess I had fallen asleep, because when I opened my eyes, I was laying in Kian's arms. I looked around at my surroundings: his room. I burrowed deeper under the blankets that smelled of his cologne. Then it hit me.

"Kian." I said, as he opened his eyes.

"What?" He asked.

"Did they get Sam back?" I asked, remembering what had happened the night before. He sat up.

"I don't know, let's go see." He said, taking the blankets off me. He helped me up and we left his room, walking down the stairs. Talking could be heard from the living room. When we reached the bottom of the stairs, and walked towards the living room, I could see all the guys standing in a huddle. I heard a girl's voice, and it wasn't Mahogany's.

"Sam?" I asked, the guys turning to me, and moving out of the way, revealing my best friend. I ran to her, embracing her. I sighed.

"When did they get you?" I asked, as we pulled apart.

"Late, late last night." She said. She looked really tired.

"Why don't you get some rest?" I whispered, ushering her towards the stairs. She nodded, walking to our room. I walked back to the group of guys, who still seemed to be talking about something.

"Isn't everything okay now? We have Sam back." I said. Kian walked closer behind me, putting his hands on my shoulders. His grip was comforting.

"They still have a piece of what we need." Grayson said.

"And what's that?" I asked, feeling pretty stupid after what Cameron said next.

"They still have Shawn." He said.

"Ohh." I mumbled. I walked into the kitchen, letting them discuss what they needed to. I made some toast for breakfast, along with an orange. As I was eating, Jack Dail walked into the kitchen, joining me at the table.

"You know, you do have a chance at getting out now." He said, glancing over at Kian, who was talking to Dillon Rupp. I sighed, for what felt like the tenth time in the past couple days.

"I know. But then I'll just get put into the pot for being killed next time we have a 'kill month'." I said, taking my plate to the dishwasher. I couldn't bear to kill Kian though... after all that's happened with him. But then there's no way of getting out of this alive...

"True. But you still have time until the next persecution month to live your life." He stated, getting up and walking off.

That 'Night.'..

I woke up suddenly from the dream I was having, and Sammy was still asleep. I made sure everyone was still asleep when I walked down the hallway, using the light from my phone. It was three in the morning. I walked downstairs, going into the kitchen. I moved towards the corner by the stove, where the knife block was located. I picked one up, sliding it silently out of the slot. Leaving the kitchen, I went back upstairs, down the hallway but not to my room. Kian's door was open, although he was sound asleep. I stepped inside, making sure to be light on my toes. I moved the knife behind my back incase he woke up.

I needed to do this.

I walked to the edge of his bed, and I knelt down on my knees. I lifted up the knife and raised it up above my head. I went to bring it down on him, but stopped. I felt tears sliding down my cheeks. I slid the knife under Kian's bed, as he wouldn't find it since there was so much stuff under there. I put my hand on Kian's arm, causing him to slightly stir.

"Kian." I whispered, my voice thick with tears. I tried to hide it though.

"Lexi?" His voice husky from sleep.

"Can I stay with you?" I asked.

"Of course." He answered, lifting the covers, allowing me to get it next to him. I got in and immediately felt his arms around me. I felt his steady breathing, knowing he was already asleep again after a few minutes.

"I'm so sorry." I whispered to the boy asleep, holding me.
