Lexi's POV
"Devin?" The worked at the café called out. Devin stood up from our little table, walking to the counter to be handed our drinks. He walked back over to the table.
"Thanks." I smiled, taking a sip of my drink. All of a sudden someone in the café raised their voice.
"Get to the point!" I heard, glancing over to the source of the yelling. I stood up when I saw someone familiar.
"Sammy?!" I said, her eyes meeting mine. A boy sitting at the table with her turned around and looked at me. I also noticed that Jc was sitting with them.
"Grayson?" I looked at him, even more confused now.
"I can explain Lexi..." Sam said, looking at me with guilt in her eyes.
"Later." I said, walking back to the table where Devin was sitting.
"Can we go?" I asked, grabbing my coat from the back of the chair.
"Yeah." He said quietly. We took our drinks and walked right past Sam and Grayson and Jc, out to Devin's car.
"I don't know what's going on, but obviously that's where she's been when she's not home. Seeing Grayson, who we all thought was dead." I scoffed, looking out the window.
"Babe, there has to be a good reason she didn't tell us..." Devin stated, as we drove home.
"You're defending her?" I questioned. He didn't say anything and the rest of the ride home was silent. We got home and I went upstairs to take a shower. I put my favorite Spotify playlist on shuffle and turned on the water until steam rose up out behind the glass door of the shower. I undressed and stepped in, taking time to wash my hair and condition it, before turning off the water about twenty minutes later. I walked into Devin and I's room and changed into leggings and a pale yellow sweatshirt that I bought last time I went to the mall. I put my still somewhat wet hair into a bun and walked downstairs.
"Lexi, I need to tell you something." Devin took a deep breath.
"Okay." I said, leaning against the island in the kitchen as he leaned against the counter facing me just a few feet away.
"I haven't been completely truthful with you." He started off.
"Seriously? What do you mean?" I asked, trying not to panic.
"Do you remember what I told you when you asked why I showed up all of a sudden?" He asked me, grabbing my hands, as I suddenly felt nervous.
"Y-you said that 'It wasn't my idea. Kian talked me into it. He said I would 'get along with everyone'..." I cleared my throat.
"Yeah. And that's not the whole story." He said, biting his lip as he looked away.
"What's the rest?" I asked, my vision blurring at the thought of Kian and something I didn't know. Devin stayed quiet for a few seconds before looking back at me.
"I knew..." He whispered, his green eyes full of pain.
"You knew? You knew what?" I spit out, as my hands were shaking slightly in Devin's.
"I knew he was going to kill himself." He said, his voice shaky. I felt my heart physically stop for a second before the tears fell. I pulled my hands away.
"Why didn't you tell me Devin?!" I asked through sobs.
"I wanted to but I couldn't. Kian invited me when he knew that you weren't going to kill him. He wanted you to live. And in order to do that he needed a new distraction and that was me." He explained, trying to pull me into a hug but I pulled myself away.
"Don't touch me." I said through gritted teeth.
"Did you ever even love me? Do you love me now or is this all just an act?" I yelled.
"Of course I love you, I wasn't supposed to fall in love with you. I was just supposed to be another person in the house and distract you but then I started to fall for you. It just made it more complicated so maybe I shouldn't have in the first place..." He said, almost too calmly.
"You're a sick person." I said, walking away, more tears falling. I went upstairs to our bedroom and I locked the door quickly behind me before he could follow me in. I took my phone from the bathroom counter and went to contacts trying to figure out who to call, as I tried to dry my cheeks but I kept crying. I took a deep breath before pressing the call button.
"Lexi??" I heard Nash's voice on the other end of the line.
"Yeah." I answered, dragging my suitcase out of the closet as I held the phone to my ear.
"Are you okay? You sound upset." He asked.
"Can you pick me up from Devin and I's place?" I sniffled.
"Of course. Just text me the address." He told me.
"Thank you. And you can leave anytime I'll be ready soon." I sighed.
"Alright. See you soon." He said before hanging up. It's been awhile since I've seen any of the guys, so I guess it'll be a good thing. I threw some clothes into my bag and was about to toss my makeup in too, but took out my concealer and foundation first, covering up my tear-stained cheeks. I heard talking downstairs but ignored it, continuing to pack my things, or at least what would fit in the suitcase. My phone vibrated on the dresser.
Hamilton Nash: i'm outside
Me: okay i'm coming
I put my phone in my pocket and took my suitcase as I unlocked the bedroom door and quickly went downstairs, and out the front door. I slammed it behind me and moments later it opened.
"Where are you going?" Devin's voice called as I reached Nash's car.
"Away." I called over my shoulder as I put my suitcase in the car and opened the passenger side door.
"Are you coming back?" I asked, realizing that he'd been crying. A lot.
"I don't know..."
