"Delilah. I don't know if you have a plan or not but for the sake of my pack and all the others. Please act like you have one. We need to keep their strength and hope up. Okay?"
I nod. Sounds reasonable.
He grins.
"Thanks for listening."
He puts his hand on my shoulder and he suddenly jerks it away.
I look over at my shoulder.
"What is it, Derek?"
He just chuckles. Then he begins to walk out the door.
"You are free to go Delilah, just stay within the pack boundaries. I'll be in my office if you need me."
I get up real quick and look out the window.
Kids are playing soccer outside a couple of women are sitting around a table giggling and joking around. I wouldn't even know a war was going on if I looked around.
I head outside and run into a man.
"I'm sorry miss. Here let me help you up. I'm Reece by the way. You must be Delilah. I'm the Beta at this pack."
I shake his hand and look around.
"Do you know where Michael or Derek are?"
Reece points to a mansion.
"They are in the Upper rank pack house. That's where you will be staying."
I thank him and jog over to the front door. Looking inside I was expecting a more sophisticated look. Instead is rather cosy. It felt like home.
I walk upstairs and see Michael and Derek talking.
They both stop when they see me.
"Hey, sis. Your room is across from Derek's. Down the hall and to the left. First door. Can't miss it."
I walk by and I can feel their eyes on me.
What's gotten into them?
I go into my room and jump onto a soft light blue bed.
I stare into space. Just looking at the gray ceiling.
Then I fall asleep. I wake up when I smell bacon.
I am out the door in a flash. Michael comes out of his room rubbing his eyes.
"Is that bacon I smell?"
We both look at each other and then race down the hall.
I push Michael into the wall and rush down the stairs.
Michael is right behind me within seconds.
"Sis, you know it's mine."
We slide into the kitchen and see a dish full of crispy bacon.
We both start grabbing handfuls of bacon and stuffing our faces.
Then we look up and see Reece, Derek and the cook looking at us with their jaws dropped.
We looked like savages. Or chipmunks.
Derek begins to laugh so hard he falls out of chair. Reece has his hand over his eyes shaking his head. And don't get me started on the cook. She is ticked off.
Michael and I look at each other trying not smirk.
"Sorry."
Derek gets off the floor and tries not to laugh, but fails.
The cook takes the dish away from us.
Michael and I leave the kitchen and head back upstairs.
"That was fun wasn't it sis?"
I nod giggling. Then I look at Michael in a more serious note.
"How are you here Michael?"
He leans on the wall.
"Ask your Mother. I really don't know."
Then he switches the topic.
"Hey, tomorrow night the local packs are having a party for you. They want to have on the full moon to thank you and to support the Moon Goddess."
I panic.
"I don't have anything to wear!"
Michael laughs and heads back into his room.
"Then shop."
With that he closes the door.
I spent the rest of the day trying to find the perfect dress.
Finally, I found it and I could sleep the night in peace.
Tomorrow was going to be a long day and I couldn'twait.
