Requested by: @da_mental_1 I changed your request a little bit, but I kinda liked the change so I hope you don't mind too much.

Warning: rape almost happens and somewhat detailed deaths occur

"This here luks lik' a nice town," Ellis commented, observing the gateway to a community that was no more because of the apocalypse.

"I suppose it would look better if it wasn't deserted," you rolled your shoulders and peeked in through the windows of the closest houses.

"What are you talking about, sweetheart?" Nick's snarky voice made you tense up and grit your teeth together. "It looks perfect the way it is. No people, no problems."

"I prefer people in those homes rather than zombies," you glared at him over your shoulder. The group groaned, knowing exactly what was coming up, and sped up so they wouldn't have to be near the heat of the battle.

"Don't you know people are more dangerous than those mindless creatures," Nick tilted his head as if he was explaining something obvious to a 3-year old.

"Except humans have humanity and they can be reasoned with," you fell back to walk beside him, getting in his face as you made your point. "Infected can't."

"Not everyone has humanity," he grumbled, his past experiences flashing through his mind. He dealt with some really sick people, but in the end he got what he wanted and they both went their own way. If those people were still alive, he would hate to run into them.

"Sure they do."

Nick pinned you with a glare. "No. Not everyone."

"And you know this how?" You snorted. "Know some friends that were born without the humanity gene or somethin'?" His eyes were cold as he stared you down.

"Listen here bit-"

"That's enough," Coach stepped between the two of you, cutting the argument off. "You two are so loud any zombies within a 5 mile radius heard ya." You realized he was right, and that you two had begun shouting without noticing the raising of your voices.

The group lapsed into silence again and you took your chance to get far away from Nick. He always found a way to annoy you by simply walking, but maybe that wasn't his fault. Like he couldn't control how ugly he was, it was just how he was born. You smirked to yourself and Nick noticed, and he sent you a glare because he knew your thoughts had to do with him.

That was something you had in common: you thought about each other a lot. Most of the time it wasn't exactly nice things, but the other was constantly up there in your minds. You both fought for what you thought, willing to argue if the need arose, and that's why arguments between you two were frequent.

Everything else about the two of you was opposing. You weren't alike in any other aspect, or so you two thought.

"Do you think a safe room's near here?" You asked aloud, your gaze sweeping the group for an answer from anybody. You got a few shrugs or thoughtful looks, but the only one who spoke did it so he could get on your nerves.

"Even if there was, there's probably some fellow nice, kind humans in it," Nick put a hand to his chin, his voice as sarcastic as ever. "Say, do you think they'd invite us in for tea? Maybe there'd be a fireplace we could roast marshmallows on too."

"We miss the way the world used to be too, Nick," you hissed, gripping your gun tighter. The thought to shoot him (not anywhere lethal, at least not yet) ran through your mind just to get him to shut up, but then he'd complain about you shooting him and how much pain he was in. It wasn't worth it, and the group didn't have enough medkits for that.
