All you remembered was running, your mother's screams, and being pushed over by a jerk who didn't care for the life of the child he just shoved to the ground. You scrambled back to your feet and kept running, heart pounding wildly in your chest. The sounds of the infectedーreminding you of the noise someone would make if they were chokingーtold you what you were running from, and naturally you picked up the pace.

Your mom's shouts of anger as she attempted to hold them off as you ran for your life evoked you of what she was sacrificing for you, though as a young child you didn't fully understand how final death was. You thought you'd meet up with her later, after the bad crazy people were gone.

But you were wrong.

You had been alone for a full day. No mommy, no one to help you or keep you company, and no food or water. You were hungry and your stomach was grumbling constantlyーmaking you groan lowly and whimperーand your throat was so dry it felt like it was made of sandpaper. Because of your lack of water you couldn't cry, but if you could you'd be bawling.

Voices from somewhere nearby made you perk up. The idea of company and possible food/water caused you to rush to the noise, stumbling and nearly falling at one point. You spotted the doorway ahead that probably contained the peopleーit was bright red and had a house drawn on it with spray paint. However, you tripped right in front of the door and smacked into it, smashing your face into the door and digging your knee into the ground enough to tear away the skin.

The voices instantly ceased and you cried out, making the sobbing noise that came with big fat tears. But there was no tears, and you ended up sounding just like one of those crazy people. That thought made you cry harder and you began hiccuping and coughing and just overall wanting to scream and hope someone came to your aid.

A scowling face peered through the bars down at you, gun clutched tightly in the owner of the face's hands. A woman joined him and gasped.

"A child?!" She cried, making you look up at her with big eyes that made her heart melt. She shoved the man aside and propped open the door just enough for her to slip out. "What are you doing out here by yourself, honey?" You simply sobbed and collapsed in her arms. She picked you up and held you just like your mother once did as she opened the door and went inside.

A clearly country boy stood with a sniper beside a black coach, both of their gazes on you as you came inside with the girl. If you had been in a stable condition you probably would've snuggled into your holder and shyly peeked out at the people, but you weren't exactly in the best condition. No child your age should be left to defend for themself like you had.

"What're ya doin' out 'ere all by yerself?" Country boy asked, innocent eyes sparkling as he tilted his head. You whimpered as the lady looked down at you with sympathy. Then you spotted a water bottle in the man by the door's hand and you instantly made a grabbing motion for it. He scowled while the others gave him expectant looks.
