"Ho...How. Why?"

Hindi makapaniwala kong tanong. He stopped playing with his pen and places it in his table.

"Why not? How? Because I want to help you fulfill your dream."

Malambing niyang sagot. Napalunok ako at kunot noong tinitigan siya.

"You said goodbye. Pero bakit andito ka? Tinutulungan ako."

Hindi makapaniwala kong tanong. He inhaled and exhaled sharply.

"It's the least thing I can do for you, after leaving you without giving you reasons."

Nag iwas siya ng tingin at may binuklat na folder sa kanyang mesa.

"You don't seem happy to see me."

Parang maktol pa niyang sabi. Lalong kumunot ang noo ko.

"What do you expect?"

Masungit kong sagot. Huh! He left me years ago and now he's back like nothing really happened. He is impossible!

"Nothing. I just want you to achieve everything you want to achieve."

Mahinahon niyang sagot bago bumuntunghininga.

"Why do you care?"

I know I sounded bitter and disrespectful. He will be my boss but I can't find the heart to be kind especially now that I am in front of my ex!! Napapaisip nga ako kung tutuloy ba ako.

"It doesn't matter. You may sign your contract, or if you're second guessing, you will always have the freewill to decline."

Walang emosyon na niyang sagot. Napamaang ang labi ko sa biglang pagbabago ng kanyang boses.

"Let's act professionally Brooke. I want your service and credentials. I've read your curriculum vitae. You're one of the best flight attendants in my airline, now I want you to work officially with my private jets."

Napanganga ako sa nalaman. The company, the airline... What? That's his?! Kanya ang kumpanyang pinagtratrabauhan ko ng ilang taon? How?! How come? How come I didn't know?

"Save your questions. For now I want to know if you're still on it. Do you still want the position?"

He asked, his eyes filled with hope. Will I accept the offer? Kung oo, makakasama ko siya palagi. At ayaw ko na siyang makita hanggat maaari. Pero kung tatanggi ako, baka isipin pa niyang may nararamdaman pa ako sa kanya.

"You can still think about it. Be back after a week if you're unsure yet. Or call my secretary for your final say. If you don't have anything to say, you're free to go. Have a great day. And nice meeting you again, Ba.. I mean Brooke."

Nag iwas siya ng tingin sabay abot ng teleponom may ni-dial siya. Ilang saglit ay may kausap na siya.

"Serena."

Umigting ang panga ko pagkarinig sa binanggit niyang pangalan. So they still contact each other huh? Nagkamot siya ng kilay bago tumingin sa akin.

"Yes. I know, silly. Don't worry. I won't do anything stupid. Thank you anyway."

Saad niya sa kausap pero sa akin siya nakatingin. Pinagalaw niya ang upuan niya. Huminga ako ng malalim bago kumuha ng lakas ng loob para magpaalam.
