The Suffocating Night Sky

She lays on her porch,
Watching the sun set over the hill
Another day she ponders,
Or another handful of
useless pills

The stars seem dim above her head
Reluctant to shine
Much like her eyes,
Much like mine

She walks to the tub
And beneath the waters surface
She slowly sinks
Thinking she has no worth nor purpose

She closes her eyes
To picture the night
that she once gazed at a moment ago
She stops asking herself why
And her mind now takes the final blow

It all makes sense to her now
The dim stars and setting sun
She finally concluded
There in that water, her life was done

So her chest stops rising
And her lips become a blue shade
Much like the night sky
her light begins to fade

She let the water consume her
Happy to finally be free
And the saddest part
That she is me
