Ink

The ink whips across the page
Covering some of her delicately written words
Until the message is unclear
And it is no longer heard

It was a simple statement
That got drenched in thick black
A useless beg for help
From the mind's attack

It explained why her eyes were glossy
Why her cheeks sunk on her face
But no one saw it in its entirety
No one delivered her from the dark place

It wasn't anyone's fault
Except that wretched ink
That ruined her note,
And pushed her off the brink

Don't blame yourself
Blame the black smudges on the wrinkled sheet
But next time,
Next time, please listen to me.
