Faded Daisy

Hooded eyelids and dilated pupils
Not to mention hollow cheeks
She looked as if she'd been
Rejecting sleep for weeks

Lack of laughter
Permanent frowns
As if jokes didn't register
As more than simple sounds

Tear stains on her ghostly pale face
Weak collapsing knees
What happened to this flower?
What happened to the breeze?

It's as if her fragile petals
We're brutally ripped away
And her only protection
The thornes began to fray

It's as if she was no more
Than a simple stem
And no one could make
Her bloom again

Poor little daisy
If only she had more sunshine
And wasn't abused by others
If only she was mine
