Trembling eyelashes release
Staining rose tinted cheeks
Now vast rivers and oceans
Once innocent streams
Prying open heavy lids
To reveal retinas bloodshot
A brief blink once
A failed attempt to make them stop
The salty beads
Cascade toward the glossy tile
The rivers expanding
Similar to that of the Nile
Pouring from her pupils
An incessant weep
Never to halt
Until she ultimately sleeps
