We'd both been sitting in the bed for a while. I was too nervous to fall asleep, and instead had chosen to just play with my hands on my lap and gaze around at Cadeth's room. Sometimes I even glanced over quickly at Cadeth.

His room smelled like fresh mint and was actually a bit more nice than I expected. There were no pictures on the wall except one of some type of document. The walls were simple with plain dark blue paint and light grey trim along the top edges. The bed had no foot board, but had a head board made of just a piece of cut thick unstained wood. It was polished though with some type of hardened clear oil or wax.

The floorboards were also unstained and a light shaded wood. There was a dresser, desk, bookcase and some sitting chairs. All the same wood as the head board with a similar more raw style. The desk had a feather, a glass with some black stuff in it, and a grey vase with some strange flowers in it. The flowers had blue stems and leaves, but green petals and a pale yellow center. Almost like chamomile flowers but colored wrong. On the bookcase were multiple books in various languages, including some in English. Cadeth held one of the English books in his hands. He was reading it. It was titled, "Terra Customs."

As he read it, he kept grumbling at random times. Sometimes even a small growl. I thought I'd jump out of my skin whenever the growls occurred. Yet, somehow I managed to keep a calm face. Eventually he started flipping through the pages. Frustrated. It sounded like raging wind.

I looked up at him just in time to watch him toss the book perfectly onto the desk. As if knowing I'd just turned my direction toward him, he snapped his head to my face and looked at me eye to eye. I averted my gaze to his neck. I didn't want to look any further down as he wasn't wearing a shirt.

He questioned, "What is the Terra custom for sleeping together?" I almost choked on air.

My words came out stuttering, " Wha-what?" I gripped my fingers as tight as I could. Anything to calm myself down. He sighed.

"We say, 'May the Sun be warm when you wake.' What do Terra people say?" My hands relaxed immediately.

"Oh." His hand moved to where my knee was. Now I was looking at his cheek. His response was quick.

"Oh? That makes no sense for sleep."

I clarified, "Uh I mean, we say 'Goodnight.' I was confused by your wording." His hand slipped back away from me. I switched my gaze to one of the doors in front of us. Silence ticked away for what seemed like forever.

Finally Cadeth spoke again, "A lot of confusion tonight. What were you thinking?" My cheeks turned hot. I could feel my throat tightening up, refusing to let any words out.

He commented, "You flashed yellow again."

My face got even warmer. I started playing with my fingers again. An awkward quiet embraced us once more. I was hoping the subject would be dropped, but Cadeth continued. Seeming he had figured it out, to my further embarrassment.

"Uh that? No. Unless you would like to." The shock of his words gave me my voice back.

"I don't." His hands stretched to the ceiling for a moment, then fell back down beside him.

"Then no need to worry about that."

I sudden wave of relief washed over me, just as suspicion crept up. I tried to shield my suspicion with a small smile. Just gentle enough to hide how I felt.

Immediately he growled, a strong glare coveting his features. Fear replaced all other feelings. It reminded me of the earlier events of that day.

I had smiled then too. Was that it? I held in a shiver of terror as I tried to focus.

Suddenly his expression changed once more. He moved close to me again. Speaking words that I couldn't understand.

I questioned, "Wha-" But he stopped me with a grip on my cheeks and a strong glare.

"Goodnight. Selese."

He let me go and turned away to his side, pulling the covers up and settling further into the bed. I decided to follow suit. Closing my eyes for a moment while trying not to think anymore. Moving down into the bed in a sleeping position. My back to the firm mattress and my hands beside me.

Yet my eyes opened once more, as I stared blankly at the ceiling.
