I heard a screech.
My foot dropped to the ground. Mangled and broken.
"Don't move Selese!"
My eyes darted up. Cadeth was holding the creature in his arms. It was scratching and cutting at him like crazy. With every cut, he healed just as fast as it could harm him, but it still looked like it hurt. Yet, he just kept holding onto it, pressing tighter and tighter on its throat. He growled, almost roared in my direction.
"Turn away!" I didn't turn away fast enough.
I watched as he ripped the creatures head right off of its body. Black liquid squirted everywhere, landing all over his face and arms and my skin as well. My flesh started to sting like a million wasps were swarming me. Cadeth eyes started glowing, red flashed for a moment. He dropped the creature and threw off his coat. Then he pulled off his button up shirt, and moved toward me. He grabbed me and started wiping away the liquid. As he pressed on it, it hurt more, and I screamed a little bit. He wiped faster.
Tears kept falling from my face.
Cadeth finished wiping away the liquid off of me, then he pulled back and wiped the liquid off of himself. The stinging started to go away. Though the rest of my body which had touched the ground still hurt. I had cuts everywhere from the grass and my back kept bleeding. My arms were gushing the most blood, but before I could cover them Cadeth dropped the shirt and grabbed my arms, giving each a small lick. They stopped bleeding instantly, but he still had some liquid on his skin. It was smoking off his flesh. I felt guilty and wanted to help too, but I was too scared. He picked the shirt back up and finished wiping the rest of the liquid off himself. The red flashed again and had flashed before while he was cleaning the liquid off me. He must be mad.
I felt so pathetic.
Cadeth threw the shirt back down then picked me up with one arm. I wrapped my arms around his neck and shoulder as he did so. It was like I weighed nothing how he carried me with such ease. He took us out of the forest and back toward the castle. I did my best to stop crying. The wind blowing at my face, helped as it calmed me. It was weird, the sun was already setting. Had I been out that long? How far did I go? I kept looking forward and away from him.
We got to the hill. He stopped.
"This is part of the gate, you can't see it, can you?" I shook my head no. All I saw was grass and flowers, nothing else. He growled. Even though I didn't need to, I tightened my arms around him. I was afraid of his anger, but I felt safe in his hold.
He started walking again. After a while we reached toward a much bigger set of doors than what I had come from. I did not see these doors in my previous walking around the halls, but I recognized the outline of them. It was unique, like flower petals. Similar in design to the purple scar on my shoulder and similar to a design which had lined a spot on the ground level wall. It must have been this door, just no handles on the inside.
To our left and right were guards. Still as stone. They stayed at attention in front of Cadeth. He walked toward the guard on our left.
The guard flashed yellow. I wasn't sure why until I looked down at Cadeth's other hand. He was holding the blade from before. The one with the Porusae lined edge. He tossed it up in the air, caught it, then jammed it into the guard's throat. The guard immediately fell to the ground, spitting up blood.
I turned away, shoving my face in Cadeth's neck as fast as I could. Was this my fault?
More tears started to pour from my face.
Cadeth ordered, "Rei shall replace him."
The other guard responded, almost sounding like a plead, "Your highness!" Cadeth turned us toward him.
He commanded, "Feed him to the rakters." The guard was silent, but I could hear him dragging his fellow guard away.
Cadeth tightened his grip on me and walked us back inside the castle. In moments we were in his room. He put me on the bed. I don't know why, but I grabbed his hand.
I just was so scared and felt so horrible.
He gazed at me. His purple eyes piercing into mine. Then spoke.
"This won't happen again."
I nodded in agreement. Then I let go of his hand. I didn't want to cause any more trouble. He brought his hand back to his side. Not even bothering to get a new shirt, he left.
After what felt like forever, Dr. Chibin entered and gave me something for the pain.
Later Cadeth came back.
The rest of the night, it was silent.
