Five Years Ago

Cadeth and Yang stood behind the corner of the dark lit alleyway. Watching from a distance, Cadeth's mate, Selese. Curiosity gotten to the better of Yang, who had begged Cadeth on multiple occasions for Cadeth to show him her. The human-born werewolf with Kyns blood. The one person perfectly made for his dear brother, and he for her. Yang wondered what she was like. If she was open or secretive. Quiet or loud. If she would care for Cadeth and Devaleon as much as he did. Probably more.

It would be so nice wouldn't it?

Cadeth's mind stayed blank. Just the sight of her slow steps holding him there like a statue. Watching, knowing. It was a risk coming out just to let Yang see, but well worth it. The sharp grin on Yang's face as proof.

The night sky was much gentler on Terra. With a bright ivory moon, and sparkling stars littered as a backdrop to the shining city lights. Every crevice, every pigment was radiant to their vision, far easier to see.

But this was bittersweet.

Every pigment included the changes on Selese's skin. Yang's first time seeing Selese, and she's covered in bruises and cuts. Healing no faster than a vampire without blood. And the lights, those wonderful but odd city lights, just enhanced the view of the tears pouring down her face. Reflecting back like a broken mirror against a wall. Shattered, painful.

The two brothers moved slightly closer. Cadeth keeping a gentle hand on Yang, in case he may try to help her. They were not allowed to interfere until he was able to take her back to Devaleon. Per the agreement he'd begrudgingly signed with her human mother. Humans of Terra, not his domain. Cadeth clenched his other hand tight into a fist. Controlling himself. Lost in thought until the gentle hum of a song started to play.

The upbeat gentle music overflowed out the window of one of the nearby buildings. Loud enough for them to hear it clearly on the streets.

Loud enough for Selese to as well.

Her eyes fluttered shut for just a moment. While her lips opened up and she took a deep breath. Even with the wounds of her flesh still bleeding and the obvious pulsating of the green and black bruises aching, she stopped walking and instead began to move her hips. Then her shoulders and arms. Swaying softly to the music. Like a gentle breeze.

Yang's smile turned into a curious stare, his face tilted to the side. First at Selese, then at Cadeth. Cadeth who's mouth was ajar and eyes sparkled bright. An expression Yang had never before seen on his brother.

Selese began to sing.

"A-as much as my heart flutters~
I'm worried th-at destiny is jealous of us!
Just like you ou ou ooo
I am soo oh scared
When you see me~
When you touch me..."

A small grin etches across her face. Concealing tear-filled orbs with the beauty of her soft quivering lips. Selese wipes her eyes quickly before continuing to move with the relaxing pop song. Her movements staying just as light as her voice.

"She's so weak, but so brave..." Cadeth's words come as a surprise to Yang. Bringing his full attention back to Cadeth, who was now stone-faced once more.

Yang joked, "What's so brave about it? Brother she is just dancing!" Cadeth's eyes finally tore away from his mate. Now focused on just Yang.

With a soft smirk, he answers, "If I were to hurt like she is, I'd never be able to sing, nor dance." The now serious gaze of Cadeth, emphasized the point. Yang could feel his stomach drop, but he ignored it.

Laughing casually, Yang responds, "Ah yes, because you will become a great merciless King. The fear of all wolves!" His hands raised up and waving, to indicate humorously portrayed terror. To the amusement of Cadeth. The outright taunting, only coming from his most docile brother, always bemused him. Maybe it is because of how close they are?
