It was calm finally. Just Raven and me here.
We both kept silent as I tried to keep my face looking as far away as possible. I feared my eyes may betray me and reveal my earlier breakdown. As of current, I suspect they stayed loyal. Raven was quietly scrubbing the floor to my right, not even a step out of place when she entered. Still, now, she tactfully worked. Not missing a beat, no hesitation when glancing at my presence.
Together we relaxed in each other's company.
Until the door was broken open.
Surprisingly, Raven kept cleaning. I, on the hand, turned my gaze toward the shattering sound. There Alpha Everett stood. A flash of red consumed him that was at least two hands thick. His eyes were like diamonds, they shined so bright with rage.
He yelled, nearly screaming, "You think you know me?!"
His fist made contact with the wall. Denting it.
He yelled again, "You dare imply I am the one in pain!" The red dissipated.
I said not a word. Trying to scan the situation. Figure out his current state. With great speed he marched to me. His teeth fully exposed. Tinted an off pink with droplets of red scattered throughout his mouth and chin. His blade was still sheathed at his left side, unused. But his hands... looked like they'd been through war.
Going from purple to green, to yellow, back to their normal tint. Also smeared with a mix of the off pink and bright red. I controlled the glare begging to take form on my face as I continued to try and remind myself that anger wouldn't make this any better.
Couldn't reverse what he's already done.
Alpha Everett reached me after a couple more steps. Coming to a sharp halt, standing at my left side. I was still chained to the chair.
"Ridiculous!" He screamed in my face. Flashing black for just a second. At the action, Raven suddenly became still. I felt nothing at the moment. I had let out all I needed to earlier. Leaving me numb to the current feelings at hand. At least I thought.
His face moved to being near centimeters from my own. The heat of his heavy breathing scalding the tip of my ear and the top of my scalp. New emotions began bubbling up. I could feel the cold chill rising in my chest and out my spine.
"You on the other hand..." he whispered, "you will know only pain." He grabbed the front of my head with his hand. A grip so tight, I could feel his fingers pressing into my forehead and cheekbone. Close enough to gauge out an eye.
My breath caught in my throat.
Alpha Everett laughed loudly, an ear piercing gawking sound. Then he began slamming my head into the back of the chair.
It happened so fast, everything around me moved like an out of focus camera. He laughed louder, the volume of his voice only slightly interrupted by the cracking sound of my skull; while I continuously made impact with the rock-hard surface behind me. Soaking my back in blood.
But that wasn't what scared me. This violence was nothing I wasn't used to. No, it was the large smile on his face. The runaway joy in his eyes. Sparkling like the eyes of a nymph running through a field. Freedom from dictation, freedom from the mind.
He's losing it.
Yet if his instinct is still holding on to what he said before. What he needed to do to keep me here for this torture. Then even mad he will not kill me-
My head began to throb violently with each crash into the chair, pumping more blood as his grip tightened enough to bruise. One particularly strong slam forcing my eyes wide open. All is clear for just a moment as my gaze lands right on her. Raven. Still there. Not moving even an ounce other than her equally tight grip on the cloth between her fingers.
She on the other hand. If he notices her in this state...
I have to stop him.
Alpha Everett claws further into my head, then rips it forward. He goes silent for a second from his laughter, to take an intake of breath. Right after, he lunges my skull back, but I push my head toward him with all my might. The laughing ceases once more and so does the rest of him, while a dash of time passes with a look of confusion etching on his face. His grip doesn't soften, but in the minuscule point which he stops, I rip my head down and out of his grasp. Ducking out of his fast-moving hands and dodging to the right.
He reaches for me again, I lift my chin up and before his hands can take hold I ready my jaw.
All the time spent holding back, holding it in, overcoming his rage- I use that to control the very part of my being that brings me down. Pulls me away and holds me from going on the offense. I stretch out my fingers, blacken my mind, and then bite his hand as hard as I can. Locking on stiff without give.
The confusion from before switches to shock. I revel, shamefully, in the madness drifting away from him, to be replaced by a feeling I couldn't quite decipher. All I was sure of was that anger was soon to follow.
But at least no one else would get hurt.
His other hand lifted up ready to come down at me. I looked over at Raven one last time to make sure she was alright.
Purple eyes stared back at me.
Suddenly Raven was now a wolf. A tall huge brown and grey furred purple eyed wolf. Looking just like Cadeth. Running full speed at us.
Alpha Everett's hand didn't even make it halfway before the wolf tore into him. Throwing them both across the room. Alpha Everett shifts too now, hurling the other wolf back with a snap of his jaws into its face. It falls back and they both shift human again. My whole chest fills with a sensation similar to lightening striking sand.
Black short hair messily sprawled against the white of the tile while shimmering purple eyes glared full force into Alpha Everett's ember filled ones. His porusae lined blade unsheathed at Alpha Everett's throat, and the rainbow glass dagger pressed into his.
Cadeth's.
It was him, all along. Him.
