The walls were decorated with plain grey stone. A porous stone that shimmered with the sunlight that poured through the many windows above. A mix of porusae stone, opaque ivory stone, ironstone, and what looked like sapphire-but wasn't- lined the bottom of the walls, like a trim made by a child. The wood floor was aged and damaged from being cleaned too roughly without oil, and most likely never polished.

In front of me were a small table and a cupboard which held many medicines and devices. To my right, closer to the door but perpendicular to it, was a strange looking computer. All metal and plugged into nothing. A square piece of the porusae stone was embedded into the top of it and it glowed a bright red color continuously. I sat on one of the five firm beds here, made of what felt like wool and alpaca. The top fabric consisted of kapok with copper yarns mixed throughout. Same with the sheet Dr. Chibin had thrown on. It was cold beneath me, causing a slight shiver to run up my spine. The air though was warm and dry.

This was my first time being in this room. The room behind the rainbow glass nob on our level. It looks to have been made into a makeshift medical room for Dr. Chibin. I doubt it was always used for this purpose, as it feels too welcoming. The general design and shimmering beautiful colors that reflected off the light, made it almost look more like a fantasy or dream than a plain room. It would have been rather stunning if the medical equipment and beds didn't dull its appearance. But I guess it is good for usage with the Doctor. Patients probably feel much more at ease in such a bright room than they would in a room like those on earth.

Dr. Chibin pulls me out of my thoughts as he yanks my arm upward and hits it.

"That hurt."

"So you do have feelings."

"You mean feeling?"

"No." Dr. Chibin glared at me the whole time. He was obviously upset. I think it may be because of my secret rendezvous with attempting magic I shouldn't have. Trying to shift.

"Yep. That's why. You're still an idiot--after all the books I made you read!" He hmph'd then.

I retorted, "Hey I thought you weren't going to read my mind anymore?"

He scoffed, "Karma."

This time I threw him a quick sarcastic stare. My eyes diverted at an angle in his direction while my cheek was slightly puffed up on one side. My lips forming a slightly tilted closed lipped half-ass smile.

But I definitely wasn't smiling.

I scanned his face, expecting a more irritated smirk to follow suit to my expression. Like we seemed to always do with each other. Yet instead I was welcomed with a single tear running down his cheek. His eye watery and his lip quivering.

My mouth dropped at the sight. Unable to stop the widening of my eyes nor the instinctual need to reach out to him. Help him feel better. As my hand reached out he slapped it away, his eyes widening too. Quickly he wiped his face and returned to his usual angry and bitter expression. A firm but obviously fake glare daring me to question the moments before.

Dr. Chibin complained, "Stupid windows! They let all the dust in! Stupid dust getting in my eye! I have one eye and you have two, yet I'm the one that gets hit by these damn dust bunnies! Lass Mich In Ruh!" His shook his head violently, dropping my arm as he did so. His curls swaying with his angered movements. After a few seconds, he finally calmed down. Taking a sip of his alcohol. I stayed silent. Staring at him. Waiting.

He joked, "You know my wife was just as stupid as you, and later my future husband."

"They were?" I smiled as gently as I could.

Dr. Chibin intensified his glare, but a small smile graced his lips.

"Yes," he grabbed my arm again, inspecting it, "that's why I'm twice widowed." My arm fell back down onto the bed as he grabbed the other arm next.

I chimed in, "I don't think that's why you're twice widowed..." I don't know why I said it.

He dropped the other arm.

"You're right-" He grabbed my leg now. Shooting me another glare.

"It's because I was stupid." He let out a loud sigh as he said this.

I shook my head 'no'. Then I grabbed his hands and brought them to my own. He was in pain. Even if his aura didn't give it away. I couldn't let him feel like this. He was my friend.

I tried to reassure him with words I truly believed, "It was more likely fate Dr. Chibin. D-" His hands ripped away from mine. Immediately he started walking to the cabinet. His hands pulling it open with such force I thought it might tip over. Luckily it didn't.

I watched nervously as he rummaged through one of the shelves and took something out. A vial of sorts. Attached to a silver chain. He threw it at me faster then I could react. It landed, with a soft plop, on my lap. Dr. Chibin pointed at the necklace, then pointed at me.

He cursed out, his voice dark and low.

"Fate can go fuck itself."
