"It was her wasn't it?" Alpha Everett points at the maid with the pretty blue eyes. Visibly scared beyond her wits. The other two stood by her as close as they could. Short haired werewolf maid to the left, purple tinted human maid to the right. Both trying to comfort her I suspect. If I wasn't again chained to this chair, I would have too. Though right now I had a bigger issue to conquer. To keep this girl's life spared.

She did nothing wrong. Yet he was insisting on killing her.

I repeated again, "No Alpha Everett, I made the lock pic myself out of the wood from the bed." This time I emphasized my sincerity by tilting my head toward the wooden bed. Shifting my chin slightly up to indicate exactly the spot I "made" it. Luckily the pic given to me by that guard was made of wood and that bed was so brittle the wood looks like it could have easily come from it. Otherwise, I don't know what I could have said to defend the maid without hurting anyone else. As he glared at me further, I thanked how much luck has blessed me so far. At the same hand though, I worried that my luck has been a bit too high for myself as of usual, and maybe it was coming close to running out.

Alpha Everett snarled then grabbed the girl away from the others. Holding her wrist far too tight. She stayed still, crying and visibly shaking. Her aura was shining a soft yellow. Flashing on and off like the turns of a siren. Her eyes kept moving to the others than to Alpha Everett. Not once did she look at me. I watched helplessly as his grip on her wrist got tighter and tighter. The girl screamed suddenly and a 'pop' sound could be heard.

Everyone else stayed silent as she started to desperately try and push him away from her. Clawing at him and partially shifting, snapping her teeth and barring them as threatening as she could. It was obvious she'd already given up on the proposition he would spare her life. My throat began to scratch and I could feel my own eyes getting wet. A slow but large smirk made it's way on Alpha Everett's face.

Not reacting to the maid's actions, he just looked at me with narrowed eyes. It reassured me on what I feared. The beatings and witholding of food, those treatments, were not the punishment.

This was.

He'd use any excuse he could, and this one happened to be most convenient. Yet, as the glint in his eyes shimmered ever so slight, he decided to toy with me further.

"Even if you made it yourself, this maid's family is still too close to the Amadi clan. Plus, I already found a replacement," he laughed, "now I don't need this maid."

I shot back, begging in my voice, "Then send her back home Alpha. Please!" My eyes became glued on the girl then. Who was still thrashing like mad. Suddenly his hand loosened and she slipped away. She turned and shifted, running for the door.

Before I could react, he turned toward her with a hard stare. Moving his hand up about two centimeters. His eyes and fingers glowed for a moment and then the wolf fell to the ground. The maid shifted human again and was now clutching at her chest. She made not a sound except for one final gasp of breath. He looked back at me.

"No."

I closed my eyes. Stretching out my fingers like I'd done before when I was on earth. Clearing my mind. Repeating over and over to myself the only words that could keep me calm.

'Hold it in.'

Then I opened my eyes again. The door behind us opened with a gentle creak. Another girl, werewolf, stepped inside. Her long black hair and soft grey eyes, far contrasted her emotionless face. She stepped around the dead girl as if she didn't even see her, but for a second I swear I saw her eyes gaze back. Another few steps and the new girl reached the others. She bows just a little at Alpha Everett. Alpha Everett ignores the new girl and continues to stare straight at me.

His foot taps the floor with one firm violent motion as he speaks again.

"No one can go back home." His voice cracked as he said it. It was then I noticed there were tears in his eyes. Tears he quickly blinked away. In the same way, I blinked away mine.

We looked on at each other in an obvious emotionally drained impasse. Time passed ever so slow as our gazes stayed locked. Knowing what the other was holding back.

Pain and anger. Hurt. I toward him, and he toward something else.

His hand jolted up to his face. Covering his lips. I still stared on as his pupils dilated wide even with the light still blazing on both of us. My gaze relaxed as my eyes shifted to staring at his shoulder instead. Uncomfortable and feeling somewhat exposed.

It was so spontaneous. I was beyond unprepared. It seems he was too.

He tapped one more time before giving orders to the maids that were still alive.

"New girl and human, you two stay for night duty to watch her and ensure she doesn't repeat the same attempt. I'd be happy to kill either of you if you mess up." Another smile now on his face again. I turned completely to looking away.

Alpha Everett left.

As soon as the door clicked, my eyes immediately shifted back to focusing on the girl dead on the floor. My throat stung now, I kept blinking away more tears, and my insides wouldn't stop feeling like ice was being thrown around everywhere.

I could barely hold in the overflowing emotions in my words as I spoke.

"Ms. Human, please take this vial off my neck and give it to the dead girl." Without question, the human maid walked up to me and took it then dashed for the girl on the floor. Yet before she could reach the dead girl, the new girl stopped her. A stern look while she held her hand in front of her.

The new girl warned, "We can't bring back the dead." I was going to argue back that we need to try, but the human spoke first.

"You wolves have done it before." I've never heard of this. What is she referring to? My eyes stay on the dead girl but my chin turns slight in the direction of the two conversating maids. The short-haired maid continues to ignore the entire situation. A sharp glare suddenly forms on the human. She tries to move around the new girl, but the new girl stops her again.

She warns once more, "And that's why we can't bring back the dead." Then she snatches the vial out of the human's hands and walks over to me. My sight is blocked now and all I can see is the new girl's subtle frown and her grey eyes opaque as she puts the vial back on me. Her hands brushing against my neck. Her fingers are so cold.

I don't understand what she's doing. Why she won't let me at least try. As if feeling my stress, she speaks again. Her voice so close now it echoes as it reaches my ears.

"We need to be smarter, not stronger right now. Whatever is in this vial, will not be able to revive her. Please understand my Queen." The flooding emotions come to a halt. Her words bring me back. Images of Cadeth's stern face saying similar things overwhelm my thoughts. My chest warms up to the point of overheating. I accept what I didn't want to.

She's truly dead. All because of me. Again I've caused another life lost.

There's nothing I can do.

I let out a small sigh of resignation.

"I do." It was something so difficult to admit. I really just wanted to cry. Let the feelings out, but I needed to be strong in front of these maids. I didn't want them scared any further than they already were.

Finding my answer acceptable, the new girl comments, "I will bring her out to a proper death."

The human speaks too, "I will stay here." I nod at both of them.

The short-haired maid goes to help the new girl, and together they leave with the body.

As soon as they're gone, the human walks close to me. No longer does she look afraid. Instead a more reassuring face is what she presents.

She whispers, "Your heart was in the right place."

"Thank you." It's all I can say. The human makes a more than obvious fake chuckle.

"Let's get you cleaned up."

"Alright." I shake my head up and down in agreement. Also to further try and clear my head. I decide I will wait until my mind calms down. Then I will do as the new girl said. Like Cadeth would have told me too, if he had been here. I know it.

I need to work smarter.

A/N: Hey guys! ^^ I know this chapter is a bit longer than my usual; please just let me know if you think I should split it in half. Hope you still enjoyed though. :) Getting close to the end here. >.<
