Jose Rizal as a Nobody Compared to Jesus Christ as a Somebody in the Philippines

Listen to Jesus, our Savior, the Redeemer of the world, the Son of God, revealed the truth in the Holy Bible: "IF ANY MAN COME TO ME AND HATE NOT HIS FATHER AND MOTHER, WIFE AND CHILDREN, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, AND YE, HIS OWN LIFE ALSO, HE CANNOT BE MY DISCIPLE." Luke 14:26

In our way of daily life in the Philippines, isn't it enough that we Filipinos, historically, all love Jesus up there by hating each other down here? What more is there to know about Jesus who, crucified on the cross, cried out loud: 'MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAST THOU FORSAKEN ME?" Matt. 27:46

For my part, as a Filipino atheist, I would rather fill my sense
of love and belonging to my country together with what our greatest hero - Dr. Jose Rizal - wrote for us Filipinos to think with and to live by: "I would like the Filipinos to be brilliant, enlightened, intelligent, and progressive."

And to think that for writing such brilliant thoughts in human intelligence, Jose Rizal was arrested, incarcerated, and public executed by the power and authority of the Catholic church in the Philippines. After which in the Catholic schools, colleges, and universities, millions of Filipino students were  taught and still are to believe that before he died Jose Rizal "retracted" and that he regretted writing his NOLI and FILI!

What a lot of academic hogwash to keep the Catholic church as the real rulers and real owners of the Philippines in the centuries yet to come! - - - Poch Suzara
