Chapter 32: Cellar

The wind is whipping through my air. All my injuries are aching, but what could I do about it? I'm sweating, but the cool wind against my upper body is keeping me a little fresh. I just left Claudia behind. She just gave away everything. About where Indie is, about who took her. Archeron.
I'm running around a corner. People are yelling out things to me, once I've shoved them out of the way. But I don't care.
I come to a sudden stop at another corner. I can't run all the way to Archeron's. I mean, he lives like, an hour from here. We never saw him much. A couple of times a year. We stopped seeing him when he went weird. Always rude, had this crazy dreams, and he turns out to be a physco kidnapper.
There's a taxi coming up. I signal it quickly and it pulls in. He's confused at the way I'm dressed, but again, I don't care. I roughly pull the car door open and hop in, before telling him the address. He puts it into his GPS. His eyes widened once he realises its about an hour away.
"Quick!" I say.
He quickly glances at me before checking for cars and pulling onto the road.
"It may be about forty dollars," he says, stopping at traffic lights.
I slam my fist on my leg, once the lights turn red. He looks at me suspiciously Then I feel guilty. I don't have any money on me.
"That's fine," I say. I swallow. I'd end up giving him money, even if it was in two years.
"Are you okay kid?" He asks.
I nod, but I feel confused. I feel him break.
"No, wait, are you on the run? He asks harshly. "Get the hell out of my taxi!"
I glance at him.
"No!" I say.
He relaxes then keeps driving.

The time seems to be going too fast, and I can't stand to look at the clock but I can't help it. I don't speak to the driver at all. The roads just seem to be too long. Felt more like two hours. Though, the whole time, my stomach was churning. I couldn't help having bad images of Indie appear in my hand. Dead, or mangled. I hated myself for thinking that way, but I was just afraid.
We were turning the corner, into his street. The street was kilometers long, but his was the only house. It sat on large fields. He was away from neighbours so they didn't hear the screams of his victims. The sky darkened, because of a storm that was coming over. There was a strong breeze that sent the autumn leaves across the lonely lawn. His massive, stone mansion sat, looking old and evil. The car screeched to a stop.
"Alright, that'll be . . . .forty three dollars and seventy-, hey! wait! KID, WAIT!"
But I was already out of the taxi and running towards the door. Hey was still yelling out to me but ignored him. I pull on the door, but it must be bolted. I'm smashing my fists on the outside of it, but nothing's happening. I can feel the sweating pouring from the cells in my skin.
I run around the side, jumping over old clatters of junk. Metal, chords, old rusty rods. I look around frantically. I grab a metal rod, holding it over my head and piercing it through the glass. Sharp shards drop arouund with a smash. I pierce it again and again until I can get through. I get a couple of scratches as I climb through, but it's nothing serious.
Here I am. Standing inside the dark, and cold rooms of Archeron's tortue house. I remember him haviing a cellar. I had to go and get something from it when I was here, several years ago when I was younger. He had locked me in there for a joke. . .
I race down, making all sorts of noise. I'm knocking things over, decorations are smashing against the tiles, or floorboards, whatever section of the house I'm in. And then there, the cellar. Stone steps led down to the eerie, chilled room. I was afraid to go in, afraid to discover what could have been behind it.
I hobble down the steps, almost tripping and landing on my face but I regain my balance. I kick open the door, my heart is pounding. I'm sweating even more. My muscles are aching. I can't breathe. The heat is radiating off my body in invisible waves. There. A delicate and thin girl. Dirty and injured.
"Indie," I tremble. I feel tears building up in my throat and in my eyes.
She manages to lift her head and look at me. Her face and body weaken as she bursts into blubbering tears. I run towards her. She is holding her arms out to me, for help. I slide down onto my knees and cup her delicate and beautiful face in my dirty hands.
"T-T-Tho. . ." But she can't even finish my name.
We look each other for a brief moment. Her eyes are deep with colour and fear. With that, I turn my head and we both close our eyes. I go in for a deep and forceful kiss. I haven't had this feeling of kissing Indigo for a long time. Like forever. But it made me feel good inside. Then she pulled away.
"T-Thomas!" She yelled. She was looking behind me.
I quickly turn around but I'm too late to cop the punch in the face. I spin around to the floor but I manage to push myself up. Archeron is standing there, ready to punch me again. I charge for him and punch him in the head twice. He collapses to the ground and I quickly run back to Indie. I gasp when I see her wounds.
"What did he do?" I demanded.
She doesn't meet my gaze.
"What did he do!" I demanded again, a little harsher.
"H-he cut me," she whispers.
I look at her 'clothng' bandages she has wrapped around her skin. On her legs, and arms. There is one cut on her face. I pull the cloth away, to see the damage. I gasp as I see the slices in her skin. I kiss one on her arm. Then the anger boils inside of me. I swerve around to Archeron, who is stumbling to stand up as he clasps his bleeding forhead. I stand up and run to him. I pull him up by the collar.
"You,' I growl. I punch him. "You, cut, an innocent girl.' I wack him in the stomach. 'You, kidnapped her, and hurt her!" I took another couple of swings at him. His nose was bleeding and I called him some other rude things. I took one more punch, sending him to the floor. He was unconcious, but not dead, otherwise I'd go to a proper jail.
I turn back around to Indie. I run over and grab her, picking her up and holding her so she won't have to walk herself. She wraps her cut arms around my neck as I climb the stone stairs that she is so looking forward to leaving.
"You don't have to worry about him anymore," I whisper.
I hear her sniff and she kisses my cheek with her dry lips.

I lay her on the lounge while I run over to the phone and call the police. I tell them the girl that was missing for weeks had been found in a cellar. They were coming.
I bring Indie a glass of water and she drinks it, spluttering in between. I hold her hand.
"It's nice to see you," I say, smiling.
She manages a smile though she's still weak.
She puts her hands up on my barechest, trying to pull me down in a hug. I wrap my hands around her.
"I love you," she whispers.
"I love you too," I say.
