This is the story of our childhood,
This is the place it all began.
This is the story of our childhood,
How two sworn enemies became best friends.
The day I met you a part of me just knew.
That you would one day hold my heart,
I just honestly never thought you'd be the one to tear it apart.
My mama told me there's a little boy out back,
You should go say hi maybe take him a snack.
So I held out my shy hand as I began to shake,
My name is Bells. As I felt the whole earth quake.
You told me your name a shy smile on your face,
As he peered over at us in sheer disgrace.
I raced you to the park where we played tag.
You caught me but you didn't brag.
You're mama taught you better than that.
That's why our first kiss was behind a hat.
That day was the day my life changed.
Our souls had united and it didn't feel strange.
It just felt right.
Leaning against you as you held me tight.
I knew our parents would break us up.
But you promised you'd never give up.
I reminded you of that day and of that playground,
You remembered every sound.
You were my Romeo and I, your Juliet,
How is that a thing you could forget?
I fell asleep to the sound of your voice,
You dumped me years later like it was an easy choice.
We both loved the same kind of ice cream,
We'd eat it side by side as we shared all our dreams.
This is the story only we know.
Of how a little boy made a little girl's trust grow.
Only to crush it in the blink of an eye,
You were the reason I'd cry and cry.
This isn't the story of the knight in shining armor,
But rather the wolf in sheep's clothes as he harmed her.
But not in the physical way you presume,
In the emotional way that makes one wish they'd never hit resume.
See, he is a boy and I am a girl,
And I swear he had my heart as we danced and we twirled.
So remind me again the part you always leave out,
Of the boy and the girl and their heart filled whereabouts.
Of the fire truck playground,
And two kids running around.
As their mom and dad smiled this was where they had met,
But that's not how our story ended, lest you forget.
We never got married although you proposed
You told me that's just how life is you suppose.
And there was no boy and there was no girl,
But that's another story a story you danced out of your memory with a twirl.
This was the story of our childhood
The one that ended at the very place we once stood.
Authors note:
A close childhood friend just moved across the state. The next day I found out another friend is not the person they once were. And believe me when I tell you that's left me quite sore.Sorry for being depressing,
