The sun was shining brightly over the field that was behind our house, and through the windows that were around the walls of my large bedroom that I shared with my older sister, Ruth. Our bedroom had bright blue and teal marbled curtains. Our bedroom over looked the outside garden where we kept our owls. As I was waking up I could hear Ruth rustling around the room trying to pack the rest of her bag. She was a year older than me and was already up and packing for her 2nd year at "Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry".

Today was a very important day because it was the first day of my first year. My mum had already stressed how important it was that I do well in my studies and my father had made sure that I had not stressed too much. My father was always more laid back then my mum. Both of my parents were wizards, so I'm pure-blood. My parents weren't what is known as a "blood-traitor", but they weren't like most pure-bloods. The best way to describe my family was "in between". Both of my parents worked in the Ministry of Magic. My mum was an Auror and my dad worked in the Department of Magical Education.

I had finally pulled myself out of bed and rolled on to the floor wrapped in my blanket.
"What in the world are you doing?!?" asked Ruth while trying to step over me.

"I'm. . .trying. . . to get up. ." I mumbled as I tried to hoist myself onto my elbows.

"Well you better 'try' faster or we'll miss the train!"

And with that Ruth had buckled her trunk and had left the room to go downstairs. I figured I should get up soon so I slowly but surely got up from the floor and got dressed
into my jeans and turquoise blue t-shirt and brushed my medium length dark brown hair. I had already packed everything that night because I knew I wouldn't be able to get up early enough to do it today.

I waltzed down the stairs with my truck dragging be hide me. I then walked through my granite and black kitchen and into my long dinning room that had tall windows along the wall all the way down to the door that lead into the front hallway. All my sisters had already been eating at the table when I arrived. My whole family was engaged in a conversation but it was way too early in the morning for me to be involved in such things. I sat down in a dark wooden chair in between my two younger sisters, Andie and Helen. Helen was two years younger then me and Andie was four years younger then me. When i sat down my mother passed down the basket of muffins. I don't normally eat all that much breakfast so I only took two blueberry muffins.

As I was eating my muffins, minding my own business, Ruth spoke up and said to me with a trace of mockery in her voice. "You know, once a first year got so excited about riding in the boats to the castle that she tipped the boat and everyone-"

"Ruth!! please don't scare your sister anymore then you already have!" my mother said firmly to Ruth.
I had then quickly ate the rest of my muffins and went to put my navy blue converse on.

"Is everyone ready to go?!" My dad yelled through the house as he stood in the front door waiting for me.

"Yes! I'm coming!" I yelled back as I galloped into the front hallway. I grabbed the handle of my trunk and the top of the cage that my gray owl was sitting in and darted to the front door where my dad, my mum, and Ruth stood waiting for me. We all moved to the lawn where a black expedition that my dad had borrowed from the ministry was waiting for us. We all got into the van and my dad pressed a button and the van started driving the way I remembered so clearly from last year when we all went with Ruth to drop her off.
