Draco Malfoy

I woke up earlier than usual that morning.  Almost all of my roommates were still in their pajamas.  Amy was already very much awake and getting ready to get started on the day.  So, I thought I should do that to.  I put on a my Ravenclaw robe over my beige skirt and a long sleeve grey shirt with my usual navy converse.  I then saw Amy leaving and I thought I could walk to breakfast with her.  Even though I wasn't 100 percent sure it would turn out ok, Amy can be quite sour sometimes.

"Hello Amy! Do you mind if I walk with you to breakfast?" I asked as I caught up to Amy.

"Sure, but don't speak to me at all.  It's too early in the morning to have useless conversations." Like I said, Amy can be quite sour.  I didn't want to disobey Amy so I kept my mouth shut.  Finally we had reached the great hall and I walked quickly to the other side of the table where, lucky for me, Evan sat picking at his eggs with a fork.

"Good morning Evan!" I said as I sat down next to Evan and pulling a plate of French toast towards myself.

"Oh, good morning.  Did you finish your herbology homework?" Evan asked with a tone of voice I knew as the 'Evan wants something' voice.

"Evan, I did that homework days ago!" I said trying to show off how quickly I had done my homework.

"Well, can I take a look at yours? I forgot to do mine.." Evan said with disappointment.

"Evan Lexington?!"

"Yes, yes, I know but I just got so caught up with all the biographies I was finding in the library!!" As he said this I had no doubt it was true.  I knew Evan loved biographies.

"Since you have a good excuse I'll let you look over it.  But just this once, so don't get used to this!" I added quickly not wanting him to think of this a normal thing.  I then grabbed the homework out of my bag.

"Oh thanks Veronica, you're a real friend!" After saying this, Evan gobbled up the rest of his eggs and began to look at my homework and take notes on his own piece of parchment.

As I was finishing my food, I noticed the group of Slytherin girls, the ones from the library, were walking into the great hall.  As they passes the Ravenclaw table they all shot me and Evan a dirty look.  Of course, Evan was still looking over the homework so he didn't notice a thing.  I then decided I should be getting to class.  I went on through transfiguration class trying to think of ways to handle if Draco was just using me.  Would I make a big fuss about it?  Would I straight-up ask him?  Should I put my foot down and make him stay?  These are the things I must take into consideration when dealing with a Malfoy.

All my classes went on that day and I continued to think the same thoughts all day.  How would I handle such a thing.  But, as I was thinking, I thought, what 11 year old would do such a thing?  I then thought since I didn't really know Draco all that well I shouldn't give myself unconfirmed hope.  I had finished all my classes, and was by this time, already in the library.  I had found a table pretty close to the door and I had just sat my bag down when I heard the door to the library open dramatically.  I quickly turned my head to see Draco Malfoy strutting into the library.

"Are you ready to get started? I have a place I need to be so be quick." Draco said as he pulled out some parchment and a quill.

"Oh, ok.. .." I said slightly confused on what he was trying to say.  Draco, after pulling his things out, began to walk out of the library.  Eliza was right, Draco was using me.

"Hey! I said I would help you, I never said I would do it for you! If you want this homework done you can come do it, with me HELPING you!" I snapped back at him before he could leave.

"What did you just say?!" He said as he moved closer, I guess he was trying to intimidate me.

"I said this is your homework and I'm not gonna do it for you." I said while our eyes were trying to out stare each other.

"Fine. I'll stay.  But, like I said, I actually have a life and somewhere to be soon so let's make this fast." He snapped as he sat down.

We only spent about 25 minutes in the library because "Draco had a life".  If I learned one thing from this event it's that, Draco Malfoy is a lot of things, but he is not smart, nor patient .  I was kinda relived that Draco had to go, because he was starting to get on my nerves.  He wouldn't answer the questions until I gave him so many hints I was practically giving away the answers.  He also kept mentioning that he had somewhere to be and that this was taking to long.  I don't know and don't care where he had to be, but it must have been very important.

After the fiasco with Draco, I was waking to dinner when I saw Eliza.  I ran to her so I could tell her everything that just went down.

"Hi Veronica, how was your time with Malfoy?"

"It was horrible!" I then proceeded to tell her about my time with the official Hogwarts jerk, Draco Malfoy.  I, conveniently, finished my story as we were reaching the great hall.  Me and Eliza gave our farewells as we went to sit at our own tables.

I then sat with Evan, who oddly didn't say almost anything the entire time we were eating.  This was very peculiar especially for Evan, who always had something to say.  I thought he might not want to talk about it now so I would ask him about it tomorrow.  I then finished eating and went back up to my room.

When I entered my room, Jane rushed over to me and told me such a bizarre statement.

"So I heard that you and Draco Malfoy hung out today! I can't believe your friends with Draco Malfoy! My older sister, who is in Slytherin, told me that it is practically impossible to be anywhere near his good side!"  I was very perplexed how this information had spread and was yet intrigued why she thought it had any significance to our lives.

"Oh, well, first, we didn't hang out, we were going over homework.  Second, we are friends I guess but, we're not very good friends.  I think he's only friends with me because I admitted he was right or something."

"Well, you are on first name terms!! Thats crazy!" As Jane said this I realized I was still not clear with why first name terms were such a big deal.

"Well, yeah I guess so." I said as I went over to get ready for bed and end this awkward conversation.
