I woke up the next morning to the sound of my roommates rushing around and getting ready for the day. I thought since they looked like they we running late it probably meant that I would be even later.
I got up and got ready and quickly went down to breakfast with Jane and Marsha. We walked into the great hall and I sat by Evan. Jane and Marsha sat across from us. Evan was eating a omelette while reading The Daily Prophet, a newspaper for the Wizarding World.
"Veronica, have you seen this article about Sirius Black?" Evan asked me as soon as I sat down.
"No Evan, I literally just got here."
"Oh, right." Evan laid down the newspaper. "Well it sums up pretty much what's been going on lately. Dementors are swarming around everywhere scaring innocent people. My mum told me, before I got here, that the ministry even wanted to put some at Hogwarts but Dumbledore can't stand them. Which I totally agree with. But, I don't know the status of it as of right now."
"Wait, dementors? Here at Hogwarts?" I asked while grabbing a plate of pancakes.
"Well I don't know. All I know is that the ministry wants them here for protection from Sirius Black." I nodded my head and quickly ate my pancakes.
"I will be right back." I said standing up and grabbing my bag.
"Where are you going?" Marsha asked as she sat down her glass of pumpkin juice.
"I want to go check on my little sister over at the Hufflepuff table." I said as I walked to the very end of the room towards the Hufflepuff table. "Hello Helen." I said as I came up from behind her and took a seat right next to her and Cade.
"Oh, hello Veronica. How are you?" Helen asked while she was getting some eggs onto her plate.
"Oh I'm fine, I'm fine. How are you? Do you like Hogwarts so far?"
"Oh yes! It's the most amazing thing I've ever been a part of!" Helen said putting a bite of eggs on her fork. "And I already have some friends!"
"That's great! Who are they?"
"Cade, Noah, and Debbie." As Helen mentioned his name Cade looked over to me.
"Hello Veronica!" Cade said smiling very widely.
"Hi Cade! How was your first day classes Helen?" I said looking back to Helen.
"Oh, it was swell! I think herbology or charms would have to be my favorites."
"That's good to hear. Well anyways Helen I have to go but I'll talk to you later."
"Ok goodbye Veronica!" Helen said finally putting his fork full of eggs into her mouth. I thought while I was up I would go over to the Slytherin table and see Eliza. I spotted her and went over to her, without sitting down of course.
"Hi Eliza!" I said still standing because I didn't want to sit down and the Slytherins be offended or something.
Eliza turned around and stood up to avoid awkwardness. "Veronica, hi, how was your first day? I hope it was better then mine was."
"It was filled with lots of homework. How was yours?" Through my words I could hear people at the Slytherin table talking so loudly I don't know how I didn't hear them at the Ravenclaw table.
"I also have lots of homework but that wasn't even the biggest problem. One of my roommates accidentally said the wrong spell last night and caught their bed on fire!"
"What?! How does that even happen?" I said realizing maybe Amy wasn't the worst roommate ever.
"I don't even know but-" Eliza was interrupted by another Slytherin girl.
