Homework troubles

It had been about 3 weeks since I had arrived at Hogwarts and I already have loads of homework. I had come up with a study plan for me, Evan, and Eliza. We were to meet in the library every Tuesday and Thursday, after our classes, to work together. Evan was impressed with my organisational skills, Eliza thought it was funny that I had already made a plan in the first few weeks. I guess you could say my time at Hogwarts had been going absolutely swimmingly. At least, it was.

One particular evening, the three of us were in the library together, going over our potions homework, when a pack of stuck-up looking Slytherin girls came into the library. There were 4 girls in the group and the way they all walked in sync looked like group of snakes slithering toward their prey. All the girls had matching black pigtail braids. I had noticed Evan and Eliza had slightly dropped in their seat, probably hoping that the girls wouldn't seen us. I did the same, also hoping the girls wouldn't see us. Yet, it seemed us trying to avoid them make them notice us even faster.

"Eliza, what is gods good name are you doing hanging out with these Ravenclaws?!" What appeared to be the leader of the group, said. She seem quite surprised, with a touch of anger, I thought that she might just be joking.

"Since when do you care about who I hang out with!" Eliza clapped back in a sarcastic voice me and Evan had yet to hear from her until this moment. She continued. "And don't call me Eliza, we are not, and will never be, on first-name-terms!" The girl looked astonished. It was clear now that she was not joking. She gathered herself together and said.

"A simply 'I don't know ' would have satisfied me... But you know McCoy, always wants to prove her point." She and the other girls laughed and stomped away. As they left they walked with a sense of pride that looked as if they had just won the battle of Hogwarts.

"I'm so sorry about that it's just some Slytherins are super particular about who hangs out with who." Eliza said, disappointed at the way her fellow Slytherins were acting. "But I promise, we are not all like that." Me and Evan both were telling Eliza how we knew that. As we were discussing the matter I couldn't help but feel guilty for making Eliza put up with so much harassment because of us. We had finished up early in the library, but Evan wanted to stay longer to read a book on trolls. Eliza and me were going to take a walk outside.

We were walking and rambling on about the ridiculous stereotypes on the Hogwarts houses, when I heard someone running from behind. I turned quickly to see Draco Malfoy darting toward me and Eliza. As he got closer he slowed his pace but he was still very out of breath.

"Can we ever see each other without running towards each other?" I asked, remembering our last conversation happened because I had ran up to Draco.

"Well.. Veronica.. I..." He puffed as he tried to catch his breath. "I.. Need.. To... Ask... A favor.."

"Ok well maybe you should ask it once you've caught your breath." Eliza said in a pointing out the obvious kind of voice.

"Well.. Thank you.. Captain.. Obvious!" Draco snapped at Eliza. Once he had finally caught his breath he said.

"Anyways, Veronica, I saw you taking down notes at the speed of light yesterday in charms class, and, well, I was wondering," He then leaned in closer to me and whispered. "Wondering maybe if you could meet me somewhere and we could go over the spells. Since, after all, we are friends now." I then realized why he leaned in. He could not let Eliza, also being a Slytherin, hear that the Draco Malfoy wanted help with homework. Draco leaned back to his original stance and gave me a look of someone awaiting an answer.

I then replied. "Oh, um, yes, sure. I can be in the library tomorrow after class."

"Ok thanks." And with that quick response Draco was running off again.

Me and Eliza continued to walk, neither one of us saying a word. I really wanted to tell her what Draco needed but I needed her to ask about it. Before my thoughts could go any further, Eliza spoke up. "Hey, so, what did Malfoy want? If you don't mind telling,"

Grateful that Eliza had practically read my mind I didn't hesitate at all to tell her that "the Prince of Slytherin" wanted help with his charms homework. "You know Veronica, he is probably just using you to get a good grade. Everyone knows Malfoy have everything but those." Eliza said. There was almost a trace a warning in her voice

"Yes, perhaps, but I've already said yes so the damage is done." I said not fully believing Eliza, but like I said the damage was done.

Me and Eliza finished our walk and by that time it was dinner, at dinner Evan told me everything I needed to know about trolls. I'm not complaining but I'm not saying it was a blissful moment either. That night when I came up to bed all my roommates were already in a heated discussion about the house cup tournament.

"But there's no way Griffindor can win, they are way to arrogant." Said Marsha

"I know right! Everyone keeps trying to make excuses of why Griffindor hasn't won. But, really it's just because they don't listen to the rules!" Replied Jane.

"Excuse me some of us actually want a decent amount of sleep tonight so can you to please do me a favor and SHUT IT!!" Yelled Amy as she got up from her bed and furiously closed her curtains.

"Oh hello Veronica!" Said Jane, now becoming aware of my presence.

"Hello," I never really talked to my roommates much, I only said the occasional "hello", "goodbye", and maybe if I'm feeling really social that day I might say "good night".
I then proceeded to get ready for bed as my roommates continued to discuss the house cup. When I was finished I went over to my bed and began to wonder if maybe, Eliza was right, and Draco was only using me. Even if he was, I think I could wait till tomorrow to find out. I then rolled over and fell asleep.
