End of Summer, finally

I woke up way too early and for a moment forgot I was in Malfoy Manor. The sun was just rising, so it was still slightly dark in my room. I sat up and figured I might as well get up and get dressed. I was a bit skeptical about if Draco or anyone else would be awake.

I got dressed and wandered around my room until I thought I heard someone downstairs. I was walking down the extra long staircase when I heard loud laughter coming from the kitchen. To my surprise, the entire Malfoy family along with Eliza, were awake. I didn't want to draw too much attention to myself so I quietly walked into the conversation.

"Good morning Veronica!" Draco said as he looked over at me. In doing so, he paused the entire conversation just to tell me good morning.

"Oh, um, good morning." I said back timidly.

"Veronica," Eliza said. As she sat her mug of who knows what down on the expensive looking counter. "I hope this doesn't seemed rushed giving you just woke up-"

"I've actually been awake for some time, I didn't know you all were too."

"Oh, um, okay. So anyways, I hope this doesn't seemed rushed because you just got here but we were just talking about we need to be leaving soon."

"Oh, no rush I'll just go make sure I didn't leave something." I said as I started to walk awkwardly back to my room.

"I'll come with you." Draco said as he caught up to me. I was actually very relieved that he was coming. The last thing I needed was to get lost in Malfoy Manor. "Sorry we didn't check to see if you were awake. I would rather you miss a dull conversation than risk you waking up angry."

"Oh it's fine, I probably wouldn't have fit well into the conversation anyways." I slowed down so that I could just follow Draco instead of pretending to know where I'm going. We reached my room and I quickly skimmed the room and saw that I hadn't left anything. "Well, all this walking for nothing."

"I didn't think you had anything to leave, but I just wanted a break from my parents." I nodded my head in understandment. Draco paced around the room. With this information I guessed that Draco wasn't ready for his 'break' to be over.

"Kind of a short break..." I said as I paced around the room as well.

"A tiny bit is better than none at all, wouldn't you agree?"

"Well, sometimes but not all the time" Draco stopped and looked puzzled. "Sometimes it reminds of something that can be so great, but isn't permanent. I guess it makes you miss things more." Draco nodded as an awkward silence filled the space. "So, uh, while we're here, can I ask you something?"

"Sure."

"The night before the quidditch game, what were you and Eliza talking about?" I tried to ask trying to hide my crippling curiosity. "I'm just asking because I'm genuinely curious, by the way."

"Oh, well," Draco bit his lip as he hesitated to go on. "Well, um, me and Eliza were just talking about quidditch and I, uh, didn't want you to feel left out in the conversation."

"Oh ok," Obviously I know a lame cover-up when I hear one. But I thought it would be better if Draco told me under his conditions and his own timing. So I didn't push the matter and pretended to buy the poor excuse of an answer. "Well, we should probably go back downstairs before Eliza gets worried."

"Yeah, but um, before we go my turn to ask you something." Draco said. "I know this is very much in advance, but do you want to sit with me on the train ride to Hogwarts?"

"Sure!"

--------Time skip to September 1st-------

Me, Eliza, Ruth and Helen were all dropped off at the train station. Helen immediately found her friends, me and Eliza walked around with Ruth until we all three found Fred Weasley.
