The train back to Hogwarts

I was walking peacefully through the woods, admiring the calm way the trees swayed in the wind when all of a sudden I hear growling. I then started running, as I'm running I began to feel dizzy as if my whole world was being shook. Then I saw, second length flashes of bright light. I sat up incredibly fast, realizing it was only a weird dream, I looked to see my little sister Helen waking me up. Helen was two years younger then me so she won't be going to Hogwarts until next year.

"Veronica, mum said that if you don't get downstairs within 13 minutes then they are going to leave without you." Helen then skipped out of my room, that I shared with Ruth, and I could hear her feet thumping down the staircase. I leaped out of bed and got ready, got dressed, grabbed my truck, and darted down the stairs. I wasn't hungry and my family doesn't joke about leaving me. (They have done it before) So I skipped breakfast and went out the front door where I had to run very fast to get into the van before it left.

This morning as I was getting ready I didn't have time to really think about how exciting today was. I was going back to the place where I felt at home. Where I had friends and Ruth to talk to. We pulled into Kings Cross, the train station, and me and Ruth made our way, with our stuff, to the platform. We hugged our parents and got onto the train. I was making my way further down the train, trying to get away from Ruth, when I heard my name being called from inside a compartment.

"Hey Hearst! Or-uh-Veronica." I heard this and immediately turned to see Draco standing there. He seemed not to be used to calling people by their first name. Which I found kinda funny.

"Hello, Draco."

"Um, well do you want to come sit with me? Crabbe and Goyle probably won't be here till later, as usual.." Draco said awkwardly. By now it was obvious that Draco wasn't use to being friendly.

"Oh sure!" I said as I walked into the compartment. Draco sat down and I sat down next to him. "So how have you been since I last saw you, what, two weeks ago?"

"I suppose I've been as good as it can get."

"You suppose?"

"Yes, well you see, my summer was quite boring. My parents were always away, so I was stuck home alone all summer. Wait, why am I telling you this? You probably care just as much as everyone else.." He mumbled the last part. But, I still heard and sorta felt bad.

"What, no! Of course I care what you did this summer. That's what friends are for. Besides, you being super famous," Draco smirked as I said this. "I bet you have a huge house. There's probably loads to do there! Surely you did something there?"

"Okay, well, I guess so." Draco paused. "Well, I did actually learn the names of all our house elfs, got lost in our maze a few times, and, oh, I found my fathers old Slytherin robe with sliver trim!" Draco said smirking to himself.

"Wow, sounds like you had more fun then me. I was stuck with Ruth all summer." Draco rolled his eyes and we both laughed.

"What else did you do besides get cursed with that bossy sister of yours?" Draco asked slowly stopping his laughter.

"Well, my parents, like yours, were gone a lot. My lucky little sisters, got to go stay with my grandparents in London. They had to send me and Ruth to a some muggle summer camp. Let me tell you Draco, never go to one! It was absolutely ridiculous!"

"Well I could have told you that!" Draco said, "Muggles are an absolute joke!"

"Now that I can indeed agree with." I said as me and Draco smiled. Draco's smile somewhat faded when Crabbe and Goyle came into the compartment. They had gotten very much bigger over the summer.

"Crabbe, Goyle." Draco nodded toward them as them walked in and sat down in their seats. "Veronica is going to be sitting with us today."

"Wait, but-" Started Goyle.

"Veronica is going to be sitting with us today." After that there was silence. I felt slightly awkward. The only person who seemed to want me there was Draco. Which, I couldn't decide, if that should have made me feel somewhat better or not.

The silence was getting so cold I had to say something. "So, Draco, what are you looking forward to this year?"

"I've already told you Veronica!" Well there goes that attempt. Then Draco looked down and back up and said. "Or maybe I didn't, sorry." Draco said quietly to me. "I really want to be on the Slytherin quidditch team."

"I think you would make an excellent seeker!" Said Crabbe.

"Yes, Crabbe, you've mentioned." Draco rolled his eyes and looked the other way out the window. My attempt didn't work out as I wanted it to.

After, what felt like decades of cold silence, finally the train stopped and as soon as it did, I shot up from my seat and left the compartment to look for Eliza and Evan.
