I walked quickly out of the train, as soon as I stepped out I froze in my steps to admire Hogwarts. I was finally here. I was caught in my own awe of the castle as I felt someone rush up be hide me and hug me from behind. I first felt scared then I heard humming and knew right then that it was, the one and only, Evan Lexington. Evan had gotten a lot taller over the summer. He was nearly a head taller then me. What really made the height difference was that I was very short and he was tall.

"Veronica!! I missed you so much I thought I was going to have to just kidnap you and Eliza and keep you at my house until school started!" Evan said out of breath. I guess he had been running for awhile. "Who did you ride with on the way here? Probably was a boring ride, I wasn't there!" Evan had a more likable kind of self confidence. He also very much enjoyed playfully annoying me and Eliza.

"I.. Uh.. Rode with Draco Malfoy." I mumbled.

"That git!" Evan spat out. "Were you forced? You know if you only used the secret help code I made over the summer-"

I interrupted "Evan! I chose to sit with him." I paused looking at Evan surprised face. "Evan, he may be an arrogant git. But, he's my friend." After I said this Evan didn't say another word about it.

"Anyway, did you have a good summer?"

"Not really. My parents were gone most of the time so me and Ruth got stuck at a stupid muggle camp. What did you do?"

"Well, I'm not going to lie to you, I had loads more fun then you!" I rolled my eyes in a joking manner. I knew Evan was just messing with me.

"Are you just going to stand here and annoy me or are you actually going to answer my question?"

"Right, right, well, I just visited my grandparents over in Scotland. Nothing big, it wasn't an out-of-this-world muggle summer camp!" I rolled my eyes as Evan almost doubled over in laughter

"Oh, so you did actually have loads more fun than me." We laughed together as Evan began looking over my head as he if was looking for something.

"Well as much fun it is to aggravate your friend it's not as fun as aggravating two of them. We need to find Eliza. I wonder who she sat with?" Evan said still looking over my head.

"Wait, you mean, you didn't sit together?" I thought surely they had sat together.

"No, my family made me late and I barely made the train! I had to sit with a some group of Hufflepuffs!"

"Well, it could have been worse." I reminded Evan.

"Yeah, I could have been stuck with some Slytherin!"

"Hey! Not all Slytherins are bad!" Came a voice out pushing through the crowd. It was indeed, Eliza McCoy. Eliza was also short which made me feel better about my height.

"Oh, it's just you Eliza. I thought I had actually just made a serious enemy!" Said Evan with his playful voice me and Eliza admired so much about him.

"Who says you didn't." Eliza shot Evan a mischievous smirk and then started giggling.

"Oh come on!" Evan said as he rested his arms around both mine and Eliza's short shoulders and swaying his head back and forth as we began walking towards the horseless carriages. "I'm one of your bestest best friend! Besides, with my charming personality, it would be very much impossible to stay mad at me". We all laughed and continued walking.

As we reached the carriages, Evan stopped dead in his track, wide eyed. He pointed toward the front of the carriage and said while stuttering, "Bloody hell?! What are those things?!" I didn't see anything and, by the looks of it, neither did Eliza.

"Evan, my bestest best friend, there's nothing there." I said confused at what Evan was talking about. But, before Evan could even open his mouth again, we were being shoved into the carriage. It was a very silent ride. Well, of course it was, Evan was practically petrified by whatever he was seeing at the front of the carriage. We came to a stop at the castle and hopped out of the carriage. Me and Eliza had to drag Evan away from the mysterious air that he was very much amazed with. We entered the castle and made our way to our tables and watched the sorting.

Evan and me watched dozens of first years be sorted into different houses. It was only a year ago that me, Evan, and Eliza, were all being sorted into our permanent families. During the sorting, I didn't spot Harry Potter anywhere in the great hall. It slightly worried me, but, he was annoying to me anyways so I shortly forgot about the small trouble. After the celebration me and Evan made our way to Ravenclaw tower with the rest of our fellow Ravenclaws.

When I came up to my room I saw Amy, Marsha, and Jane already all in the room sharing their summer experiences. Well, not Amy, Amy was always a bit unfriendly. Last year I didn't really talk with my roommates. Eliza told me that, since I'm going to be spending lots of my time with them, I might want to at least try to get to know them better.

"Hi guys!" I said skipping into the room. Jane and Marsha welcomed me with a huge hug. Amy simply nodded towards me and went back to looking at her scrapbook on her bed.

"How was your summer?" Jane was quick to ask me.

"Oh, it was brilliant I guess. How was yours?"

"Oh wow, where do I begin?! Me and my family went to America for a whole month!!" Jane said trying not to choke on her words as she got them out as fast as she could.

"Woah! You went to America?!" I said in disbelief. I always had mixed feelings about America. The place itself seemed beautiful. The people, I didn't know enough about to make a decision.

"Oh yes!! It was the most eventful place I've ever gone!" Jane said as she twirled around in a circle with her arms stretched out.

"Well Jane you make my summer seem totally boring." Said Marsha looking back at me and then to Jane. "All I did was visit London a few times and stay at home."

"You think that was boring! Imagine being stuck in a muggle summer camp because your parents had to work." I said giving a small roll of my eyes.

"Yeah, Veronica totally wins the 'most boring summer' award." Amy said sharply as she dramatically turned the page of her scrapbook.

"Well, Amy at least we can always count on you to really help lift spirits." I snapped back at Amy. We had a mini stare down that was broken by Jane losing control of her twirling and spinning all over the room.

"I'm just being honest! But I see my honesty is not appreciated!" Amy got up from her bed and grabbed her curtains. "Good night!" Amy jerked the curtains around her bed and we could hear her flop onto her bed. We all three just exchanged a few confused and slightly nervous glances, then all went to get ready to go to sleep in our own bed.
