Quidditch

It had been almost two weeks since the start of my second year at Hogwarts, and already so much was happening. Quidditch tryouts had come and gone and Draco and Eliza had both made the Slytherin team. Eliza made beater and Draco made seeker. Draco's father also bought the entire team new brooms. It was a very well known brand and Ruth couldn't move on from how glorious they were.

The first game, for the Slytherin team, was coming up and, since Slytherin was playing Hufflepuff, me and Evan didn't have to decide which side to sit on. Speaking of Evan, he has been spending mostly all of his nights in the library looking for any clue to what the things driving the carriages are. His obsession even since he saw the invisible things has been exactly that. Me and Eliza don't know when we should begin to feel concerned for Evan's mental health. We were thinking about telling someone, but then quidditch came and it slipped our minds.

The day of the first quidditch game was finally here and as me and Evan were walking down to the field with Eliza she was sharing with us all the incredible features of the new broomstick.

"Look, it even has a cooler looking foot straps!" Eliza was so excited about the new brooms. Eliza doesn't get excited easily, so me and Evan knew this had to be the coolest thing in the quidditch world.

"Wow, does it even have bedazzled straw?" Evan said sarcastically.

"Mock all you want but, these brooms are the best of the best right now and we're just lucky enough that Draco's father was generous enough to let us have them." Said Eliza as she turned her head up. I had to hold back my laughter as I pictured Draco's father actually caring about the team at all. He probably only gave those because Draco was on the team.

"So I guess the Malfoy name isn't as dreadful as I thought!" Evan said making sure that he said this right towards me.

"Evan, seriously!?" I snapped.

"Okay, okay, I'm sorry, but I really had to..."

"Well, technically there is nobody here forcing you..."

"Eliza! Not helping my case!" Evan said as me and Eliza began giggling.

We made it down to the field to the stands and Eliza left to go get ready for the game. Draco was walking in right behind her. As he was walking he stopped and waved to me causing Evan to hit the sarcastic remarks jackpot. I didn't mind though, I knew Evan never actually intended to ever be mean.

The game started and it was kinda dragging a little. Within 15 minutes of the game the score was, S-20 H-35. Eliza was doing great, considering she was a 12 year old beater. Then, Slytherin earned loads of points and was beating Hufflepuff by 20 points. Then I happened to look up in the air and see Draco. He looked like he had seen the golden snitch. He was rushing through the air with his arm outstretched. He was so far up I could barely see what he was doing but the entire Slytherin side went into a complete celebration. So, I took that as Slytherin just won their first game!

Me and Evan shoved our way through the crowd to Eliza and pulled her into a group hug. "That was bloody brilliant Eliza!" Evan yelled over the rest of the Slytherin crowds excitement.

"Thank you!! I can't believe that we won!!" Eliza said smiling so wide her smile took up most of her face.

I didn't only have one friend to see, so after hugging Eliza a million times, I went through the crowd that was gathered around Draco. Draco spotted me at once and I came up to him and tried to yell through the crowd, 'congratulations'. I think Draco must have heard me because there was about three seconds of eye contact between me and Draco that was the most awkward moment I've ever experienced even to this day.

I quickly realized that he did indeed hear me and I had now made an incredibly awkward moment. I quickly turned around the escape the crowd along with the awkward tension.

"Wait, Veronica," I stopped and looked back at Draco puzzled. "Thanks." I smiled back and then took off through the crowd.

I saw Evan and Eliza making their way to the castle with the other Slytherins. I ran as fast as my short little legs could carry me until I reached my friends and almost collapsed into Evan.

"Oh, there you are! Where did you go off too? Me and Evan were looking everywhere for you?" Eliza asked as I was panting hard.

"I.. Uh.. I.. Went.. To.. Go..-" I puffed as my breath was slowly coming back to me.

"Okay, I don't actually care that much." Evan said interrupting me.

"Well anyways we are having a party in the Slytherin common room, and I would love for you and Evan to be there! But, the only problem would be sneaking you two in." Said Eliza.

"Well if there's a party, Evan Lexington is not going to miss it! And I'm sure we can just mix in with the crowd." Evan said raising his eyebrows along the last few words of the first sentence.

"And if you both are going to be there I guess so should I. Count me in!" I said.

"Great! This is going to be fun!" Eliza said bouncing on her toes. We all three planned a way to sneak in without drawing to much attention and it worked! Then Eliza got lost in the celebrating crowd. Me and Evan got split apart while trying to flow along with the crowd into the Slytherin common room. The Slytherin common room was inside a dungeon. It had cold stone walls and long green couches that surrounded the fire places. There were balloons, cake, confetti, and music. It was actually loads more fun then I first thought it would be. Through the night, me, Evan, and Eliza all had more fun then we ever have while being friends with each other. When it was around 9, me and Evan decided to go on and get to our common room.

"Wow, that was lots of fun! But, I don't think I'll be able to hear anything for the next few days." Said Evan has we entered the silent hallway.

"Yes I agree with that entirely Evan!" I agreed and we walked to our rooms in a tired silence. We had finally made it up the hundreds of stairs and said goodnight and went our own ways.

I came into my room to find all my roommates doing something on their own and not speaking to each other. This was a very rare occasion indeed. Jane and Marsha were almost always giggling or chatting away about something. I didn't mind the silence though, so I slipped into my pajamas and went straight to bed.
