Halloween

It had been a couple of weeks since the first trip to Hogsmeade, and Evan and Eliza had not fully made up yet. It was already Halloween, we were almost done with the term, and things were still awkward. I knew Evan was probably the least sensitive of the two so, I told him my honest opinion on the whole ordeal. They have both stopped speaking regularly to each other. It is very awkward for me, wanting to stay friends with both, to find time to hang out with them separately

"Evan, I get why you are upset, and you have every right to be, but don't you think almost three weeks is long enough to hold out this grudge?" I asked as me and Evan sat down for dinner at the Ravenclaw table.

"Well, I think so too. But, I truly believe that Eliza should apologize to me for being so incredibly insensitive!" Evan said as he stuffed a fork full potato casserole in his mouth.

"Yes, I suppose-"

"You suppose!?" Evan moved to where he was now looking towards me. "Veronica, she got mad at me for," Evan lowered his voice. "having a hard childhood.."

"Ok, ok, fair enough," I then wanted to escape this awkward topic so I brought up something very different. "What do you think of the new Defense Against the Dark Art teacher?" I asked while pouring myself more pumpkin juice.

"He seems ok, but have you noticed how sick he looks?" Evan paused to take another bite of chicken, "He looks like he barley gets enough sleep, and he really should't be looking this bad considering school only started about month ago."

"I have noticed that." A moment of silence feel between me and Evan as we continued to eat our dinner.

"What have you learned in muggle studies?" Evan asked, defusing the silence. "I'll probably already know about most of the things you'll tell me but, I'll still listen."

"Thank you so much Evan, for finding time to listen to me." I said sarcastically. "But, I have learned some weird stuff about muggles."

"Yes, muggles are weird, but that doesn't answer the question." Evan quickly interrupted.

"I'm getting there!" I snapped and I smiled at Evan, then continued. "Muggles celebrate Halloween by dressing up as other people."

"Yeah, um, that's just one of the weird things they do." Evan mumbled.

"And they dress up as wizards and witches. I never thought I would have people dress up as me."

"That's kinda creepy if you put it that way." Evan said.

"But they look very inaccurate." I opened my bag and pulled out some pictures from class that showed an example of their costumes. "Look," I handed him the picture. "They think we are some round old people with ridiculous hats!"

"Ok first, I know what they look like, remember half-blood. Second, I agree, and they think all wizards have beards, that is such a stereotype," Evan took the pictures from my hand and began looking at them. "Also, there-"

"He's here!!! He's here!!!" Evan was interrupted by a little boy wearing a Gryffindor robe. As he ran into The Great Hall, he tried to yell his next few words through his heavy panting. "Sirius Black.. Is in.. The castle!!" The hall was immediately thrown into an absolute chaos.

Me and Evan decided that we would learn more about the current situation if we stayed in the hall. So that's what we did. I noticed that some people were running into the hall. So if I could only find someone I knew, I could ask them about what was happening. Through the crowd, I saw Draco making his way back, with a group of his friends, to the Slytherin table.

"Evan, look there's Draco. He just came from outside the hall so he might know something." I grabbed Evans wrist and stood up. "Come on Evan." I pulled Evans arm a little and he stayed sitting.
