"josh? i'm on my way over."

"ok, baby! i can't wait to see you. i'm sure you look beautiful as always," josh said with a smile.

"o-oh, gosh. w-was i supposed to dress up? shit. i'm in sweats. g-give me like half an hour and i'll be there, ok?"

"no, honey! you don't need to dress up. we aren't going anywhere."

"o-oh. ok. i-i'll be there in the ten minutes."

"can't wait, tyler joseph."

"me neither, honey."

"love you, baby. see you soon."

"love you too, joshua."

as soon as he hung up the phone, josh raced to get everything finalized. dinner was ready, and they were having chinese as promised. but not take out, because josh's orange chicken was tyler's favorite food in the world. his boyfriend was quite the chef.

the house was perfectly in order, everything sparkling from being so clean. the house was dimly lit with music playing in the background, josh remembering how much tyler loved slow dancing with him.

suddenly, there was a knock on the door and joshua rushed to open it.

"h-hi," tyler said with the most adorable, shy grin possible.

"hey, cutie," josh smiled taking his boyfriend's hand and leading him inside.

in the kitchen sat a table for two, lit by a few candles with a rose set on tyler's plate, a not attached.

'here's to a night of celebrating our love, tyler joseph.'

tyler smiled widely and blushed. "two minutes in and i'm already being spoiled," he giggled quietly.

josh grinned and kissed the top of tyler's head, pulling his chair out for him before going and getting the food on their plates.

"aww, you actually made it! i thought we were just gonna do take out," tyler said in surprise.

josh smiled and shrugged. "well, you like it better homemade so homemade it is."

tyler smiled as josh reached his hand across the table to hold his boyfriend's, tyler gladly agreeing and holding onto josh's left hand with his right as they ate.

"stop looking at me," tyler giggled shyly, ducking his head adorably. "it makes me nervous."

josh smiled his goofy grin at the boy. "how does people admiring your beauty scare you?"

tyler blushed and shrugged. "i-i don't know. i-it just doesn't happen that often, i guess."

"that makes me sad and happy," josh said. "everyone should be admiring your radiating gorgeousness. but i'm ok being the only one," he smiled.

tyler smiled and blushed deeply. both boys finished their meals, josh disappearing for several minutes and leaving tyler alone and confused. suddenly, he spotted a line of rose petals going up the stairs and into a room where there was only a single chair with a circle of rose petals around it along with some candles.

suddenly, josh appeared next to tyler, taking his hand and leading him to the chair, getting down on one knee in front of his boyfriend and taking both his hands.

"tyler robert joseph, you have officially stolen my heart. i've always dreamed of being in a relationship, but i didn't know one could be half as blissful as ours. whenever i'm around you, i just... i feel complete, tyler. i feel like i'm worth something and that i have a purpose. you have that affect on people, baby. and that's just one of the many, many things i adore about you. and lately, it's been rough. the past month has been hard, tyler. it's been our only tough time as a couple before, and sadly, it won't be our last. but i want to promise you something," josh said, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a blue velvet box with a silver band in it. "i want to promise you that even through hard times, i'm still going to be madly in love with you. and there's nothing you can do to change that, honey. whether you like it or not. i promise you that i'll always be there to kiss you and hold you, even if it takes me a while to get there. i just... i love you, tyler. and you're the most perfect boy in the world. i mean, who would have thought a car crash would be the best day of my life? you have the power to make the terrible things positive, tyler. and now i'm just rambling so i'll get to the point. this isn't a proposal, baby, so don't worry about that. this is a promise ring, for you to look down and remember all the promises i've ever made to you. so. tyler robert joseph, will you accept this ring?"

tyler bursted into tears, nodding his head and allowing josh to slide the ring on his finger. he then sunk to his knees and hugged joshua tightly, josh swaying back and forth with his boyfriend in his arms.

after several minutes of just crying, tyler looked up. "i love you, joshua. so, so, so much."

"i love you more, tyler. and i promise you that i'll make you believe you are lovely."

tyler smiled and sniffled, josh picking him up and carrying him downstairs. "you wanna dance, baby?" josh asked with a grin.

tyler quickly nodded, wrapping his arms around josh's neck as josh wrapped his arms around tyler's waist. they swayed back and forth in the living room, their foreheads pressed together as the took turns sharing one thing they loved about the other.

and eventually, the song ended, but tyler had no intent of going anywhere.

"w-will you stay here tonight? w-with me?" josh asked nervously.

tyler quickly nodded, josh taking his hand and leading him upstairs to his room. they both slept in only boxers, josh the big spoon and tyler the little.

as usual.

though tyler was constantly turning around to kiss josh, smiling as he twisted the ring on his finger. "it's beautiful, joshua."

"a beautiful ring for a beautiful boy," josh grinned.

tyler smiled and blushed, snuggling into his boyfriend before saying 'goodnight' and falling asleep.

it would be the first of many nights they fell asleep together in the same bed, but something about tonight was just...

unforgettable.
