"good morning, handsome," josh smiled down at his husband.

"h-hi," tyler said shyly.

"you look beautiful as ever," josh said with an honest smile.

tyler just blushed and smiled shyly, looking down and hugging his husband a little tighter.

"i'll go make us coffee," josh said, getting up and going downstairs.

but really, josh was going to get the bouquet of roses he purchased the night before along with a bunch of small sweets.

it was a special day.

it was tyler's last day of voice therapy.

his voice would always be pretty raspy, but now, he could completely carry out a conversation without crying because his throat hurt so terribly.

"happy last therapy day!" josh grinned, walking into the room with a tray holding two mugs of coffee, the roses, and the sweets.

tyler smiled and blushed deeply. "t-thank you. t-that's really sweet of you."

josh smiled and sat the tray down on the bed, sitting next to his husband and handing him the mug of coffee. "anything for you, my dear."

"i-i thought y-you maybe would... w-would like to come with me today," tyler said quietly. "s-so we could d-do it t-together."

josh started to tear up. even though he was the reason he was in therapy for the first place, his husband wanted him to be there with him.

"that means so much to me, ty. i'd love to come with you."

josh went to therapy with tyler, his husband holding tightly onto his hand the entire time.

tyler headed out to the car, but joshua was stopped by the doctor. he knew this was a voice therapist, but not a counselor as well.

"joshua," the doctor said. "i think you should know tyler is... he's doing a lot better emotionally. he says he forgives you and he dreams of returning back to normal, just it will take him lots of time to be ready to take it there. please know he truly does love you and it's just difficult for him right now to say it sometimes. both literally and figuratively. so i encourage you to tell him you love him often and take him on dates. make him feel loved and as if he's worth something. because ever since after... the incident... he's felt worthless."

josh quickly nodded. "i-i will. i promise. i'll do everything i can to make him feel loved and worth something. i-is there anything we won't be able to do as a couple because of his throat or... emotional situation?"

"i'm not sure if he'll be stable enough for sex," the doctor explained, looking at her notes. "but if you do end up building an incredible relationship back up, he might be able to within the next year or two."

josh quickly nodded. "i'll try my best. but making him feel loved comes first."

he then thanked the doctor and ran out to the car, finding tyler and hugging him tightly.

"i'm so proud of you, honey," josh said. "i know it was hard going through that."

tyler nodded, hugging josh back for an... unusual amount of time.

almost four minutes.

maybe they were already closer than they thought.
