chapter 12: dreaming of the future

"what do you wanna do, ty?" josh sighed as they lied cuddling in his bed.

"what i'm doing right now. holding your hand while we cuddle in our boxers in bed."

"no, like in the future. what do you wanna do?"

"o-oh. w-well writing songs professionally might be nice," he said. "b-but more than anything, i wanna get married. i just think it's such a cool thing. like there's one person out of over seven billion people in this world that's perfectly made for you."

"and who would you wanna marry?"

"well, i mean, i-i don't wanna scare you, b-but you," tyler said quietly.

josh smiled and hugged his boyfriend closer. "that's good, baby. because i wanna marry you as well."

tyler smiled widely and nodded, caressing josh's cheek as he grinned up at him.

"do you wanna have kids when we get married?" josh asked.

tyler shrugged and laughed lightly. "i-i dunno. i mean, it sounds wonderful, but you know how much i hate sharing you."

josh laughed and nodded, kissing tyler's forehead. "well, let's say there were two of me. so one would be with you all the time while the other took care of the kids."

"i'd want both of you."

josh laughed and sighed. "ok, baby. just pretend that we got used to not being together alone all the time. how many kids would you want?"

tyler smiled and shrugged. "one, two. maybe even three."

josh smiled and nodded in agreement. "what genders?"

"it depends on who we're drawn to at the adoption center. i mean, the child we're gonna adopt isn't even born yet, assuming we aren't getting married really soon."

"or maybe we are," josh grinned. "you never know."

tyler smiled widely and nodded, twisting the ring on his own finger with a grin.

"when do you wanna have sex?"

"i-i don't know. i-i haven't really thought about it," tyler shrugged.

"do you wanna wait till we're engaged or married?" josh asked, squeezing tyler's hand.

"i feel like we should just wait until the time is right. if it's tomorrow, then great. if it's six years from now, that's fine too."

josh smiled and nodded in agreement.

"y-you d-don't like it like... r-rough, right?" tyler asked quietly.

josh quickly shook his head. "no, baby. not at all. for me, it won't be about trying to be sexy or anything like that. it'll be about just making you feel both good and loved."

tyler smiled widely and blushed, kissing josh's nose. "you're the best boyfriend ever, joshua."

and then, they both got lost in each other's eyes, josh's hand gently caressing tyler's cheek as tyler had his hands around the base of josh's neck.

and they started to kiss.

and when tyler broke the kiss and moved his lips down to josh's neck, it was a surprise to both of them.
