The next morning, everyone met up below the mountain preparing for Battle. Samantha, still wearing her yellow robes, as she approached the armies of elves, men and dwarves. Thranduil took notice of this change in Samantha. "You look different." said the Elf King. "You just now noticed?" laughed Samantha. The Elf King Laughed. "No one told me you are Pallando's daughter. Otherwise I would've released you and your companions along time ago." said Thranduil. "Don't worry about it!" said Samantha.  She looked out, and she could see an army of Orcs and Goblins approaching them. She held her sword ready for battle. Her nieces Merrilee and Judith remained in the mountain alone. She wished she had some one stay behind them to keep her company. Then she thought of an idea. "Bard, where's your son?" asked Samantha. "He's behind me." said Bard. "He should be with my nieces to keep them company. They're all alone." said Samantha. Bard agreed with a smile. "Please go and keep my nieces company, Bain. They will need all the support in case something happens to me." said Samantha. "But nothing's going to happen to you, will it?" asked Bain. "I don't know, Bain. But please, do this for me." said Samantha. Bain nodded, and he made his way towards the Mountain.

She almost wanted to ask Fili or Kili to do so, but they wanted to fight side by side with Thorin. Meanwhile, inside the mountain Judith and Merrilee sat down, but barely talked. They hoped that everyone would make it out of the battle okay.  An hour later Bain arrived. "Bain! I thought you would be with your father!" said Merrilee. "Your Aunt sent me here to keep you two company. She didn't want you two to be alone." said Bain. "She's going to make it. I know Aunt Sam! She's not going to fall in battle." said Judith. "Is that what you're worried about?" asked Bain. Both girls nodded. Bain sat in between them. "I'm worried about dad too. I'm hoping he'll survive. I cannot bear to lose another parent." said Bain sadly. "Well we got each other if something does happen." said Merrilee. Bain smiled. "Yes, that we do." said Bain.

Time skip

It had been hours since the battle had began, Samantha had been seperated from the company and Thorin. She hated the fact that she was seperated from them.  Bodies of dead orcs, goblins, elves, men and some elves surrounded her. She could see the ones who survived still fighting off orcs and goblins. Samantha franticlly went to search for Thorin and the others. Suddenly, she saw Thorin in battle with two orcs. Bolg and Azog. Fili and Kii are with him, helping his Uncle. When she saw Thorin fall to the ground, Samantha bolted towards them, standing in between the orcs, Fili, Kili and Thorin, now on the ground. "Move woman! I'm going to behead your king!" sneered Bolg. "No!" screamed Samantha as she swung her sword at Bolg, killing him, and he fell. Samantha gave one final thrust in the Orcs skull. "No one messes with my husband!" barked Samantha. Suddenly Azog grabbed her, confiscating her sword from her. "SAM NO!" cried out Fili. Samantha closed her eyes, mumbled an incantation. She surrounded herself with fire, Azog quickly dropped Samantha and pulled back, and she threw fire at the Orc, engulfing him in flames. At the same time, Beorn approached them, already he seen that Samantha killed off the Pale Orc and his son.

Samantha, Fili and Kili looked over at  the orcs making sure they were dead. After that, Samantha walked over to Thorin, kneeling before him. "Oh god, he's mortally wounded!" gasped Samantha, tears streamed down her face. "Sam..." said Thorin softly. "I'm going to save you Thorin, even if it takes all my strength to do so." said Samantha softly, as she held on to him."Come, lets go and take him to the tent at the camp. I wlll carry him. You climb on my back, Sam, Fili and Kili!" said Beorn, now in bear form. Beorn took Thorin, while, Fili, Kili and Samantha climbed on Beorn's back, as he raced back to the camp. After Fili, Kili and Samantha climbed down, they helped Beorn take Thorin to the tent, placing him on a small cot. "I'm not going to leave his side." said Samantha. "Me neither." said Fili and Kili together. Thranduil and Tauriel entered. Thranduil looked at him. "Sam, he's not going to make it." said Thranduil sadly. "He's not going to die on me, I won't let him." snapped Samantha. "Sam, there is nothing we can do to help." said Tauriel softly.
