A tap on the shoulder startled me, and the car approached an abrupt stop. The seat belt held me back from jerking forward.

Turning my gaze to him, I finally realize where we are.

We had arrived at his pack lands. His eyes were on me, studying me. When mine met him, his head snapped away, not wanting to meet my eyes.

Another pang to the heart.

Am I that repulsive that you turn away from me?

I slowly turned to the door, unbuckling myself before opening the door and stepping onto the green grass. The scent of the wood was fresh, and it smelled just like home.

Home...

Sighing, I slammed the door shut. I traveled to the back to gather my suitcases while helping the others. The warriors helped my pack members gather their belongings and bring them to their rooms as they entered the pack house. They filed in, following the warriors.

Their faces were in awe. Children held their mother and father's hands tightly, unsure of their new surroundings.

The Alpha of the North didn't spare one glance towards me: his head high and waves rolling off a confident alpha male.

He walked off into the thick of the woods, shifting. His clothing shredded into nothingness as his paws thundered onto the dirt.

This fucker...

My anger was getting the best of me, but then again, that's how it always was: anger, then frustration, and finally, hurt.

My hands clenched into fists, my nails digging until the skin peeled.

This isn't how it's supposed to be...

I reeled back a tear, calming myself. Kace, just with his mate, Mela, jogged over to my side and patted me on my shoulder blade.

My attention was now on him. How would you describe his features right now?

Kace had a sparkle in his eye that wasn't there before we arrived. His pearly white teeth showed as he smiled brightly at me. Hope seemed to fill his entire body, humming the air around him.

I didn't want to ruin the mood, so I smiled.

"Hey, Iris! Isn't this place jaw-dropping? To think you're going to be marrying this guy, too. I was going to give him a knee in the balls, but you will be in good hands. Sad to know he isn't your mate, though," he trailed off, voice restrained.

I bit my lip, not ready to tell anyone yet.

"Yes... it's a shame," I whispered out, my arms crossing.

The tension was very thick, and I could tell we were both very awkward about what to say. Kace had taken tabs that I wasn't ready to rant out to him yet, especially since my father had just passed away.

Biting the inner side of my cheek, I ask, "So... any inspiration for you and Mela's room? You guys will be okay, right? Do you guys need any help with unpacking?"

Kace's stance relaxes slightly, his mouth shaping into a dirty smirk.

"No, I think we'll be fine. I mean... unpacking is easy. Besides, I think Mela will enjoy the rock-hard inspiration I'm going to give her tonight," he chuckles, rubbing his two hands together.

My face scrunched up in disgust, "Ew, can you not? Virgin ears here."

He barked a laugh, and Mela, finishing pulling out her luggage, came over.

"You guys are talking about gossip? Let me in on some of that drama, please," she joked.

I shook my head while Kace grinned naughtily.

Oh no...

Before I could cover my eyes, he swiftly embraced Mela, dipping her nearly to the ground as he placed his lips upon her.

A gasped moan escaped out of her mouth as he devoured her.

"There goes my virgin eyes," I hopelessly said, but they didn't even hear me. Rolling my eyes, I grab my luggage and attempt to roll into the pack house.

As I reached to open the door, it suddenly opened, hitting me square in the face.

I am not having the best day.
