I elbowed him in the abs, but gave my two best friends a nervous laugh.
Reese grunted, but let it slide.
Knowing that we needed to tell the truth instead of lying.
"Fuck buddies? The hell is this shit!? Baby, hold my hoops. I'm about to go Donkey Kong on this alpha's ass," Mela swears, already about to take off her earrings to charge after Reese.
I frantically wave my hands in a dismissing manner, "No, no. You've got it all wrong. Reese and I made up, and it's not what it seems," I explained.
Mela stops in mid-air, "What do you mean?"
Kace cuts me off before I could say anything more, "Cut the shit and stop being cryptic. I'm about to tear both of your asses if you don't tell me right now. He hurt you, Iris!"
My shoulders slumped in defeat, "I know, but it's for a very good reason."
In the corner of my eye, I could see Reese's eyes cast downwards, feeling ashamed still for what he has done.
Even if it was to protect me.
I sighed, again with this story telling.
"Please have a seat, Reese and I have a lot of explaining to do."
Kace and Mela automatically slid onto their seats, their eyes watching our every movements.
Mela surprisingly asked, "When did you start calling him by his middle name? Hell, when did this even start?! I'm getting emotional and shit."
Reese slips out a chuckle, and urges me to help him explain.
This is going to be a long ass explanation....

"So let me get this straight, Odette is actually a crazy ass bitch that did all this shit? Is that why you were acting like an asswipe, Daniel? To protect her?" Kace asked, rubbing his temples.
Reese nodded, replying smoothly, "Yes, that is correct."
They both sigh in relief but seemed overwhelm with the amount of information thrown at them.
I wouldn't blame them, because I couldn't even wrap the details around my head that Odette was behind this, and controlled Reese from the background.
Soon, they apologized to Reese and give us their blessings.
It meant the world, but before they could go, Reese pleaded, "Don't tell anyone about this. It's a very secret topic, but we made an exception to tell you two because we trust you."
They nodded, reassuring us that our secret will be kept.
We thanked them as they put away their dishes and ascended up the stairs, saying their goodnights.
Finally, it was just us alone.
"So... um... do you want to come up to my room and stay over for the evening?" Reese asked, his tone shy yet hopeful.
I giggled at his attempt, shaking my head, "No, we mustn't. If Odette catches us..." I trailed off.
Reese nods, his smile still beaming.
"Then... would you like to see my room?"
I almost jumped on him, "I'd thought you'll never ask!" I chirped, trotting up the stairs as he followed closely behind.
Reese opened the door with ease, and I barged in; taking in the state of his room.
Surprisingly, it was very neat. His bed was made, many medical, historical, philosophy, and much more books piled on his bookshelf.
It was... casual.
There wasn't a mess, but his closet was open.
In it was hanged clothing, all neat.
I turned to him with a wide mouth, "You're so... neat."
He gave me a smug grin, "Of course I am. My mother and father raised me this way, just so I can provide and impress my mate."
Reese's smugness soon disappeared at the mention of his parents though.
I frowned sadly as I watched him walk over to where the picture frames were.
Reese picked up a frame, as I trailed along beside him. He traced the three other figures slightly, but came to a stop when it rested onto a little boy.
Risking it, I ask, "Is that your little brother?"
He timidly nods, his jaws clenched tight.
"He should be seven years old now," he muttered.
"And... those are your parents," I pointed out, the older woman and older man standing right behind the little boy and a happy Reese.
He nods, not saying a word.
I inspected the woman's face, and she looked very alike to Reese. He inherited his mother's long lashes, while he inherited his father's handsome looks and strong jawline.
What a good looking family, and from what I could assume, his little brother would come out as a little heartbreaker.
I smiled softly, "You must really love them."
Reese nods, "Yeah, I do. I... miss them so much."
I grabbed the picture frame and placed it gently down and away from Reese, who seemed like he could break at any time.
His face turned to meet my eyes.
He looked so vulnerable.
I brought his head down, my hand reaching up and pulling him down to me. I hugged him tightly, gripping his back. Although I was much shorter than him, this was all I could do.
"Don't worry... we'll get them back soon. I promise," I whispered, promising him.
He nods into my embrace, appreciating my words. With a last peck to his lips, I released him, heading to the door.
"Goodnight, Reese. Sweet dreams."
He gives a small smile, seeing me out the door.
As the door closed, I rested against the wall by it. One thought entered my mind, and my attention focused solely on my main goal.
I will stab that bitch until she dies... for hurting my man.
