"It's Alpha Reed to you. I don't lose my status just because you're the Alpha here." I snapped, glaring at him.
We were all silent until Odette jogged up to me.
"Hey, where have you been? You're late," she said, raising an eyebrow.
I shrugged, hoping that everyone's eyes would stop staring at me. I've never liked being at the center of attention in these circumstances.
"Ran into some trouble this morning. I had to deal with it, but it's okay now," I replied.
She nodded but whispered, "Follow my lead."
I looked at her strangely but agreed anyway.
"Okay, let me catch you up!" She exclaimed loudly before throwing a punch. I dodged out of instinct, eyes wide.
"What the hell, Odette?" I yelled as I whispered.
"Just go with it," she replied.
In the corner of my eye, all the warriors staring at me returned to their previous positions, training and combatting one another.
He was still eyeing me, his features looking very cautious but blank.
With my attention on him, I didn't notice the incoming hit from Odette. Her fist landed a blow to my gut, and very hard, might I add.
I doubled over in pain, choking.
Odette crouched down immediately, sputtering apologies, but I dismissed the call and said it was fine. As I recovered, I thought of a question I had wondered since last night.
"Where were you last night, Odette? Why weren't you at pack dinner? You know I almost fought him... right?" I asked, frowning.
She remained silent but quickly answered, "I was relaxing on my computer with some headphones."
I urged her on, "And?"
Odette seemed offended because she blurted out annoyedly, "Why does it seem like you're interrogating me? You're being very nosy."
I stared at her, frowning. "I think you seem to forget who I am, Odette. Just because we are on friendly terms does not mean you can do whatever or say whatever you want to me. I am an Alpha, so treat me like one." I said, my eyes pitch black.
Odette went pale as she nodded frantically. "I'm sorry... it won't happen again."
"Good. I don't mind if you don't want to tell me everything, but don't speak to me in that voice." I said, warning her.
She nodded, and I backed off, satisfied.
Her smile returned. "Thank you. Are you ready?" she said, changing the topic as she got ready to have a practice duel with me.
I nodded, but one thought entered my mind.
She's lying.

After a few practice rounds, we're exhausted.
He then called me over just as I took a few minutes' break from combat training with Odette. She sent me a good luck message with a reassuring smile but not much else.
Soon enough, I stood before him, and he eyed me down.
All of a sudden, he strikes me hard in the chest. I half expected it, blocking the hit and letting out a hiss from the force of his punch.
He didn't say anything but continuously attacked me.
Hit after hit, I block but form a bruise.
It hurt like hell, and Eugene was right.
His training... was hell itself.
