Iris's POV:
"And that's how I came here. Why I'm doing this to you. I wished the amulet to not make me obey any higher ranked werewolves, even if I entered as a pack member. That's why Reese here can't do anything to me."
I blinked, absorbing the information.
"While I was a Rogue, Reese's Mother and father took me in because I looked like an innocent child. Of course, my plan turned for the better when rogues attacked. I took this chance to kidnap Reese's little family, even if they commanded me to stop, they couldn't. And now... we're here. At the final stop of fun." Odette explained, her story ending.
I frowned, "But why target Reese?"
She smiled, her eyes dull, "He was one of the strongest pack in the land. I knew your father health was ill, and with how powerful Reese is, no doubt would your father accept the offer of an arranged marriage."
Odette tapped her chin, waving her finger in the air, "I also knew that Daniel here slipped in some tablets in my drinks to knock me out cold. I drank it purposely just so you two can bond, and get close. That way, when I kill one of you, the other suffers!"
I didn't know what to say.
Her life had been hard from beginning to end.
But it didn't excuse her crimes, for what she has done to all of us.
Overall, the whole thing was just plain petty.
Odette yanked a piece of jewelry off her neck, the red amulet glowing softly.
It had been on her this entire time.
Finding my voice, I say, "Odette ... I'm sorry, I didn't kn—"
"Of course you didn't know. My mother wished for our existence to be erased. The amulet did it's shit, so of course you didn't know!" she harshly replied.
My mind swirled, going into many directions. "But... how is it my fault?"
Odette's stance froze, her eyes narrowing, "It is your fault. Don't pretend it's not. You are her blood, therefore, you need to take the blame."
I shut my mouth, letting her to continue talking.
"My mother murdered your mother because of what she said. No one is innocent in this world, Iris. We want what we can't have, but I know I'll take your life here and now! Including this bastard pup!" She said, launching towards Reese and grabbing Keegan, the knife barely missing my main vein.
Keegan shrieked, screaming and crying.
An unknown force pushed me, and as I found the link, Wasabi was awakening. Odette has told her story for too long, and now was my chance.
Using the last remains of my strength, I break the chains from the wall.
Bits and pieces fell everywhere, and as the smoke cleared, I launched onto her. Slamming and using whatever I could to end her.
I guess Reese's trainings did help after all.
Keegan was thrown against the wall, his whimpers being heard.
Keegan ended up passing out, which might have been the best since I had a feeling that this wasn't going to end well.
Reese shouted at me, and I extended my claw as I threw Odette into a wall and sliced the chains clean off. It burned my hands, but I didn't care.
He was free.
Reese sprinted out of the cage, picking up the key that had fallen off of Odette and opening the cage door and running outside to mind link the pack for help.
He came back in and swiftly opened the door for his parents, unlocking them from their chains of prison for many years.
They embraced him, crying.
I returned my attention back on Odette, her body stumbling.
"I ... will complete ... my revenge. No matter ... what," she spat, her chest heaving.
I strutted up to her and wrapped my hands around her throat, "Death will be too good for you."
She stilled in my hands, "Fuck you, bitch. I still took your mates first time seeing a woman's body, along with him touching a woman's body-"
I extended my claws and ripped out her heart in one hard thrust of a hand.
I could feet the muscle pumping in my hand, spurting out blood. Odette's mouth fell into an 'O' shaped form, the blood pouring out from her.
I held the heart in her face, "Revenge makes you bitter. It's not worth it, because whatever happened between our parents was between them. We had nothing to do with it. I'm sorry for breaking your ballerina toy, Odette... but I really wish things didn't end this way."
Odette and I could have become really good friends, especially how I imagined us from the beginning.
No drama, no nothing.
As I held her heart in my hand, I crushed it.
Her choked whimpers answered to her hearts call, but I ended up promising what I said I would have done.
Death will be too good for you.
I wiped her heart with the wolfbane from the chain before shoving the muscle down her throat, making her chew on it. Her eyes rolled back to her head, her mouth not being able to chew it as she vomited all over the ground beneath her.
I soon loosened my hold on her throat, her weight falling with a thump.
Odette's body shook, almost as if she were having a seizure. White foams started forming at her mouth, her heart remains splashing onto the ground.
Not a second after, Odette stopped moving.
Not breathing.
Finally, one thought entered my mind.
Odette was dead, and we were finally free.
