Odette stared at him, and mumbled, "Let me in, we need to talk."

Without any hesitation, he opened the door wide for her to enter. She gracefully walked in, as he watched her every movement.

He dressed still in a cotton white T-shirt, with joggers on. It seemed as if he was doing alpha duties late in the evening.

I bit my lip in frustration and curiosity to why she was in his office this late in the night. So many questions, yet so little answers.

He creaked the door slightly, just so there was a little crack in it.

I used this chance to tip toe over there carefully, using the crack as my peep hole. It showed me the majority of what I needed to see.

Where Odette sat, and where he stood.

After a moment of silence, he suddenly asked, "What are you doing here, Odette? It's late in the evening. You should be asleep."

She clicked her tongue, "Now, now. Is that a way to treat someone who has an agreement with you? Don't you remember who's at stake if you push it?"

He went rigid, clenching his jaw tightly.

"My apologies. I'm just... tired," he mutters.

Odette smiled, "That's better. Now, you know Alpha Reed, correct?"

His head perked up at that, alert. "Yes, what about her?" He asked, eyes narrowed.

"What do you feel about her? Anything new?" Odette asked, a smile shaping on her plump lips.

My heart started racing for his response, and I was preparing for the worse. Wasabi was pacing around in my head, whining lowly.

"I think she's a weak female that doesn't deserve the title as alpha. I don't like her. She's arrogant and is firmly defiant against me time and time again," he spats roughly.

And my heart broke.

If that was even more possible.

Curse the bond. I fucking hate it. We would both die if I rejected him, or it was the other way around. The fates were inevitable.

I felt a deep, simmering resentment whenever I thought of him.

His mere presence seemed to taint the air around me, making it hard to breathe. Every word he spoke grated on my nerves, and every action he took seemed to be calculated to provoke me.

It made me hate the way he made me feel powerless and insignificant, and I honestly despised the way he seemed to revel in my discomfort.

I sighed, my thoughts a mess with a constant, gnawing ache in my heart.

Snapping out of my thoughts, I locked in one what they were doing.

Enough feelings... focus.

Odette stared at her nails, her leg crossed over the other.

"Is that all you feel or see in her?" she asked, amusement edging in her voice.

He nodded deeply, hatred rolling off him in waves. "Of course, what else would I see or feel for her?"

Odette suddenly stood up and slammed her hand on the table.

"Don't you lie to me!" She hissed.

He stood there staring at her, almost as if they were having a showdown. She walked around him, sizing him up as if he were prey.

"Last chance to tell me, Reese. I've been observing your movements around her since day one. Don't forget about the agreement! One wrong move, and it's game over. What. Is. She. To. You?" she hissed.

He still didn't answers, as his face stood blank.

Odette let out a humorless laugh, as she said three words that surprised even myself.

"She's your mate!"
