I let out a yelp, falling off balance. My hands flew out to grab anything, but it was no good. My bottom lands on the wooden doorstep, my hands soon following.
A hiss of pain escapes between my lips. My fingers rubbed my temple. Peaking my eyes open again, I see a girl kneeling before me.
She seemed very surprised, but she recovered from her shock and lent me a hand. I grabbed it instantly, pulling myself up. A small grunt escaped her as she helped me, but I was thankful.
The female automatically apologizes to me, her frown and panic very evident. I wave my hands in front of her, pushing the subject away.
She sighs in relief, and a smile reaches her face. "Wait, I haven't introduced myself. My name is Odette Dawson. What's your name?" she asks.
I tilted my head, "My name is Iris Reed, but you can call me Alpha Reed."
She nods, extending her hand for a shake. I take it, and she replies, "It's a pleasure to meet you! Wait, did you say Alpha Reed?"
I nod, causing her to make a loud gasp.
"Aren't you the daughter of Murphy and Juliana Reed? Your father was a great man; I looked up to him."
I stayed silent about that, the subject still bitter for me. She realized her mistake and apologized once more.
Odette was friendly, and I appreciated it.
She stays silent after that before saying, "Welcome to the pack, Alpha. Would you like a tour around the pack house? I can help you carry your luggage upstairs."
I smile gratefully, "Yes, that would be nice. Thank you."
She smiles, leading me upstairs.

"And... there's the kitchen. That should be the end of the tour. Please give me $150.00; since I'm such an awesome tour guide, I deserve a reward," she asked, extending a hand toward me.
Unexpectedly, I start laughing. My gloomy mood left me.
She chuckles, "Finally, you're laughing."
I perk my head up at that, "You... knew... I was ups-"
"Yes, that's why I plan on even doing the silliest things to make you laugh. I'm the pack clown in this pack. Causing others to laugh makes me happy," she responds, cutting me off.
I smile a real one this time.
"Thank you. I can tell we'll be great friends," I replied.
She nods, smiling also before tapping her head. "Oh, I almost forgot. Do you have any questions?"
I cross my arms, rubbing the sides, "Uh... yes... I do."
"Okay, shoot," she says.
I inhale a deep breath. "No one knows his name, the Alpha of the North's name—all but his pack, or so we've been told. In worldwide meetings, he's also referred to as the Alpha of the North. I want to know his name, please."
Odeete's eyes widen before she coughs out, "Don't tell anyone I told you this, but... since you're now considered a friend... and you're basically in the pack now," she pauses, frowning. His full real name is Daniel Reese Miller."
Well, that was unexpected.
What a boring name.
