Iris's POV:

The smell was nauseating, my nostrils flaring to the reek. It smelled like the back ally of a sewage area, and I had swore I felt a the squeaks of little rats scurrying away by my feet.

I small pitiful groan slipped from my lips, as I squeezed my eyes shut to blink several times, my vision still disoriented.

Everywhere burned, and yet felt dulled.

Blinking one last time, my eyelids peel apart.

Until I'm welcomed into a room, but not just any room, it was a dungeon.

Right across from me was my mate, who was unconscious and still breathing peacefully. The rise and fall of his chest reminding me that he was alive.

He still had no shirt on, and was only in his boxer briefs.

I was relieved that he was safe, as I tried to reach over and touch him.

Instead, I was resisted by chains.

They weren't just any chains, they were also coated in wolfbane. A anti-werewolf weapon that is considered fatal if used correctly, and so far, it has burning the hell out my wrist.

I hissed in pain, the sizzling of my skin burning.

Reese must have smelled the burning of skin, because not a second after, his eyes open wide.

He too, looks relieved to see me, but I warn him before he could tug on the chains, "Don't bother. They're coated with wolfbane, it'll burn you."

He grunted, "I don't care, not when my mate is in danger."

Speaking of mate...

The memories from before came crawling back, the hurt and betrayal returning to my form.

Reese noticed my change in features, because he tried to explain himself, but I wasn't having any of it. I know what I saw.

"Shut up!" I shrieked, tears already falling, "I thought what we had was special, even after you've caused nothing but pain since I've met you. My friends thought I was crazy for giving you another chance, but they were right. You're a dirty, lying, cheating, bastard!"

His face fell into a scowl, "That is not what happened! Listen to me, at least contact your wolf, Wasabi. My wolf and her were having a conversation before we both were blasted with substances that knocked us out! She'll tell you!" He begged.

I did as he asked, trying to reach for that link, that bond between human and wolf.

However...

It wasn't there.

Wasabi was dead asleep.

Too weak to move.

I tried again and again, but to no prevail.

After minutes later, the sound of metal creaked loudly in the room, causing Reese and I's heads to snap up to who or what was doing that.

It was none other than Odette herself, who had a huge grin on her face.

"So, how was your nap you two? Did you miss me?"
