It was late evening, but that didn't mean we couldn't live a little.

Vivian, Serena, Eugene, Corbyn, and I were drinking wine and discussing random topics so that they could get to know me a bit better.

So far, so good.

I already felt that the girls would be good friends with me while the boys could become my guy friends later on.

My fingers played underneath the cup, moving it in circles as the wine slushed around, forming a mini whirlpool.

Vivian must have noticed how quiet I had gotten because she shushed everyone up and placed the center of attention on me. "What's wrong, Iris?"

I tilted my head to meet their questioning gazes, sighing as I sipped my wine.

"Your Alpha is going to be training me tomorrow since... I'm not to his preference in fighting skills. I seem to have the appearance of looking weak in his eyes. Tell me, do you have any idea of how he trains?"

Eugene whistled loudly, "Damn, prepare to get your ass beat!"

For that, his mate, Vivian, smacked him on the head.

He pouted but continued, "I'm just kidding, but in all seriousness, Reese is pretty good with his combat skills. He trains daily and has refined his skills over the years."

"Reese's training is extreme. Be prepared. Your body will tone out, and the muscles in every fiber of your being will ache, but at least your senses will be more keen on those around you. You will know the limits of each muscle and how to use them," Corbyn chirped in, his face flushed from the wine.

My shoulders sag, ready for the hell unleashed on me tomorrow.

"What time is training? When does it occur?" I breathed out.

Serena, who has been silent during my questions, puts her drink down and places her chin onto her hand, leaning into it.

"Trainings are usually 6:00 am to 12:00 pm. Only warriors have to train, but on other days when the non-warriors don't have work, they train while the warriors train with them."

Vivian nodded as I looked a bit unsure of the information.

"Trust us, you're in good hands. Even though Reese seems like a jackass most of the time, and a man that's on his period, he's not a bad guy," she says, giving me a reassuring smile.

I scoff, "When pigs fly. He has been an asswipe from day one. I can't expect anything better than that."

Serena's face scrunches up into a look of sadness, "He wasn't always like this, you know."

Of course... something always had to happen for them to be this way. I rolled my eyes at her words, sighing.

I played with my wine again, picking it up and taking a gulp of it all in one full swing before placing it down again. Licking any remains of the wine on my lips, I timidly ask, "What do you mean?"

They all shared fleeting glances but said nothing more as Eugene's Adam's apple bobbed with restraint.

"You'll have to talk to him about that. We're in no position to talk about his past."

We didn't say much after that.

Eugene and Corbyn became tipsy after drinking too much wine, so their mates carried them upstairs.

They bid me farewell and said they would see me tomorrow, but they also warned me to be prepared for hell and craziness in the morning when the pack members get ready to go to work.

When they were all gone, I sat on the chair's stool, growing more curious about my unanswered questions.

He wasn't always like this... huh...

That's a shame because that doesn't excuse him for treating me like this!
