What?
I never told anyone but Kace and Mela that he was my mate.
How would she have known that he was my mate?
'If anyone had paid attention, it was obvious that you two are mates. Especially during training yesterday, it was a dead giveaway,' Wasabi huffed out, seeming hurt.
I didn't bother responding to her, as my attention was more focused on the scene in front of me.
Odette seemed angry, as her claws enlarged. A dark smile appeared on her face, one that made me and my wolf very uneasy.
"This is better than I'd thought! Who would have thought she, out of all people, was your mate?" She cackled.
He stood there unmoving, his eyes casted down elsewhere. Odette strutted up to him, using her forefinger to lift his head up.
She was standing on her tip toes, and lucky for her, she could meet up to his height if she wanted to. He was extremely tall, and many she-wolves these days seemed to be interested in tall male wolves.
Odette chuckled softly, "So... you've been trying to make it look less noticeable by acting like a big bad wolf to her, huh? You tried to keep her safe from her fate."
"So much for the Alpha of the North. A scary man, who kills the innocent. A selfish man... who takes what he wants, when he wants." She continued, mocking him.
"Those rumors are amazing... because almost everyone believes them. So does your mate." She cackled.
He stood still, casting his eyes down now. "That's because you made those rumors."
Rolling her eyes, she released him and shoved him back.
"You deserved it. Idiots acting like assholes just to save the ones they love. How pathetic. You can't even save your own self, so what makes you think you can save her as well?" She scoffed, mocking my mate.
Odette was suddenly trotting over to where the door was, where I was.
I quickly moved back, almost near my bedroom door and strained my werewolf hearing.
I heard her taunt out, "You love her, and you have since your eyes met... but it must be painful because she despises you. Some Prince Charming you are. Only in the shadows, I pity you."
A growl escaped from what I guess him, before she replied smoothly, "Don't do it. You'll endanger them."
The growling continued and Odette sighed.
"You never learn, do you?" She says before she twirled her fingers in the air. Red spells appeared in her hand, revealing a witch in disguise.
"Kneel." She whispered.
My mate's eyes were pitch black at this point. His anger rolling in waves. "Leave my mate alone. She is innocent in all this."
"She was never innocent and never will be. You need a reminder of where you stand!" She snarled before she clenched her fists.
With one swift motion, my mate started kneeled over, his body shaking in pain.
Oh my god, is that how she's controlling him?!
Seeing him hunched over, Odette smiled in satisfaction.
"Try not to let this happen again, Alpha." Odette said as she made her way to the office door.
I quickly scrambled back into my room, and slipped back into my covers.
My heart was pounding, my mind racing; trying to comprehend what was happening. There was too much information to put together.
My bedroom door opened, and I could tell Odette stepped inside.
She closed the door, and locked it.
Her covers rustled as she slipped into bed.
Soon enough, her soft snores echoed around the room.
I turned around, still shocked.
Two thoughts crossed my mind by then.
1. He loved me, just as the mate bond was supposed to do.
2. Odette wasn't a friend, she was an enemy.
