You should know that already Ifeoma." He kissed the top of her head. "It's because I love you."
Ifeoma's muscles became taut and she felt herself become so rigid in Jeffery's arms. She stayed so still, not moving, not talking, not even daring to speak. The information she had just heard was too hard to digest.
She pulled away from him, leaving some space between them. "What do you mean by love Jeffery? Just what is your definition of love?"
"I'm not the smartest tool in the shed but I do know how to describe what I feel. And that is about as far as I go with the definition of love. I think love is when you are ready to give your all to them, when you get that funny feeling that you want to become better for them. That you want to even look better for them."

"Alright. I pinky swear. How did you even know pinky swear?" He asked as he locked his big pinky finger with her small one, while a wide smile spread across her face.
"I read it in some foreign novels while I was in the village. I'm smart even though I came from the village you know?"
"Alright. And yes of course I know that." He grinned at her. "So will you be my girlfriend?" He asked hopefully.
