The Vanguard newspaper seemed to have lots of news on crimes of all sorts; ranging from murder to embezzlement to other little crimes and then even to prostitution. That was the part that really caught Ifeoma's attention. The debate about if prostitution was legal or illegal seemed to be an issue cooking up on low heat."Make them just tell us say make we dey pay tax." Joy rolled her eyes as she snatched the newspaper from Ifeoma's hands.
"Don't mind them. Goats wey nor get better things to do." Grace added as she looked at the news article over Joy's shoulder.
"The thing wey dey vex me pass na the fact say na these same people wey dey come patronise us. Later dem go get big mouth to dey insult us and stupid hands to dey write rubbish articles."
"Since dem nor wan use their sense, na one by one we go dey cut their d*cks very soon."
"Of course. By then we go see the mouth dem go dey use tey talk legal and illegal. At least dem go know say cutting those their stupid d*cks illegal now."
"Abi o."
Ifeoma stared at both of the girls in awe–disgusted awe; if there was anything like that. Their discussions were making her shudder in plain horror. But before she could say anything about their crude comments;
Ding dong.
The door bell rang. The door always had a way of drawing attention to itself. Ifeoma noted. "I will go and check it." Grace announced as she headed for the door. A moment later, they could hear her voice from far. "Joy didn't you lock the gate yesterday morning?" She yelled from her position at the door.
"I locked it o. Maybe it's Kemi that left it open when she went out this morning." Joy said as she rummaged through the bag containing her items for manicure. "Why are you asking?"
"Someone is here again." Grace replied as she made her way back into the living room.
"Who is it?"
"It's me." Jeffery said as he followed closely behind Grace.
"I swear. Na all this kind children dey make people dey put dogs for their house." Grace commented as she sunk into the sofa.
"I tell you." Joy agreed. "Na dem be love. You guys just have luck that Kemi isn't around. She for para for una."
"Where did she go?" Jeffery asked as he settled down beside the only reason he was in a place like this.
"She went for a convention." Joy threw carelessly. "At last!" She exclaimed as she got a hold of her nail file.
Jeffery gave her a look. I didn't know prostitutes went on conventions. He thought in the safe of the house holding his inner thoughts and feelings.
