It's been weeks since we last saw each other. We can't do anything about it because our schedules wouldn't just match. And RJ's getting busier every now and then. We just tend to settle for calls and texts and updates on instagram. But I don't even know if he has time to even check those. But I understand. I always do. Why wouldn't I? When in fact I myself is also part of the industry. And if he has extra time I would rather suggest for him to take a rest at home than to spend time with me except of course if he would ask.

RJ calling...
Hello?
"Hey. Are you free tonight?"
Ahhmm. Yes. Where to?
"Sofitel. 7:00pm."
Oh.. Are you going to pick me up?
"Let's just meet there."
O-okay..I'll be there. See you.
"I'm sorry."
"It's okay. I understand."
"See you later."

I didn't respond but instead I ended the call. Is everything okay? I mean, I feel like something's off.

Nevertheless I prepared myself for tonight. I carefully chose a dress that would fit me. It's been a long time since we have seen each other so I should stop overthinking. Maybe he's just tired and he badly needs comfort.

I brought the cake I baked for him. I wanted to surprise him with something just to lighten up his night. I'm sure it was a tiring day for him.

As I got in the car, I was texting him that I was about to leave my unit and in just maybe half an hour I'll get there. He replied saying he was already there waiting.

I was guided by the crew to the place were Alden was. I saw him sitting silently and looking intently at his phone. When he noticed me coming he put his phone back to his pocket and met me halfway. He kissed me on the cheek and I smiled.

"What's that?" he said pointing at the box I just put on the table.

"I baked a cake for you. And of course you can share it with the Faulkersons in case hindi mo maubos. " I silently laughed

"Why would you do that? I'm okay, Maine."

"Huh?! I know, but--- I just thought that you would love to eat sweets. Just give it to Angel and Riza. I don't mind, really."I was surprised at how he reacted towards my gift

I remembered myself hurrying to go to the nearest supermarket a while ago, and looking for all the ingredients. I can't believe I was actually late in today's dinner just because I carefully checked the oven from time to time.

I closed my eyes and mentally scold myself for remembering.

"Is that why you're late, Maine?" I shivered at how serious his tone was.

"Uh. No. I just needed to do something."

"Like?" He looked intently at me

Baking..Psh. As if something else would matter.

"Just about my schedules." I reasoned out

No time for mood swings Nicomaine. Maybe he's done eating sweets. 'A' for effort.

"You don't have to. But thank you." he said and smiled

Our foods arrived before I could possibly open up a conversation. We quietly ate until I decided to broke the silence.

"How's everything? How's your day?" I looked up to him and he stopped from cutting his steak with the knife and looked up to me

"Fine. Nothing important in particular. Still busy. Ikaw?" He drank the wine in front of him as he waits for my answer

I stopped eating and wiped my mouth with the tissue napkin and drank water. You'll be fine, Nicomaine.
