RJ took a deep breath and opened the gate so he could come in. After his father entered, RJ straightened up and prepared himself for the hurtful words that his Dad would tell him.
"Are you Kirby?" RJ's Dad asked the little boy. Kirby stared at him curiously and nodded. RJ walked towards his son and carried him up in his arms; he then looked at his Dad and properly introduced Kirby to him.
"Well, nice to meet you ... little man." He then told Kirby with a smile on his face. RJ beamed at his son but he knew the little kid wasn't having it. Kirby just nodded and buried his face on RJ's neck.
"Aren't you gonna invite me in?" His Dad then asked him.
"Sure." That was all he replied and they both walked inside the house.
"What about the car?"
"What car? Oh, don't worry, RJ. I hired the guy for the entire day and I already left my stuff at the mansion." His father answered. RJ looked on and saw Maine staring at them with a mildly confused and shocked expression on her face.
"Who's she?" His Dad questioned him.
"Her name is Maine ... I'm courting her." RJ replied, staring at her directly in the eyes.
"You're courting her? Why does it look like she already lives here?"
"Because she is, Maine is also the maid ... she takes good care of Kirby."
"You're courting the maid ... I'm not even surprised." His father said, causing RJ to roll his eyes away.
"Maine, can you please take Kirby to the garden?" RJ asked her. Maine nodded and took Kirby away from him. As soon as they were out of his view, RJ led his Dad towards the couch.
"RJ ... when did you meet him?" RJ then heard his Dad ask.
"Three weeks ago. Kristine left him, we already did a DNA test, and we're a match." He replied.
"When will you start being careful, RJ? How many times do you have to embarrass this family before you learn your lesson?" his Dad questioned. RJ's eyes widened and he clenched his fists.
"Do you think I wanted this? I was perfectly happy with my life! And then all of a sudden my ex came back and BAM! We have a kid. Hindi ko ito ginusto, Dad. Eh wala eh ... hindi ko naman siya pwedeng iwanan at pabayaan na lang. I can't do to him what you did to me." RJ said. His father's face tightened. He sat up properly and looked at RJ intensely.
"Don't you dare talk to me like that, hindi ka namin pinabayaan ng nanay mo."
"Oh really? Where are you most of the time then? Please don't forget that once a year lang kayo umuuwi. Ni hindi nga sa pasko o sa birthday ko eh, ordinaryong araw lang. You weren't there when I graduated high school and college ... wala din kayo nung mga panahon na sakitin ako ... wala din kayo nung na-ospital si Lala. You were never there for me, Dad. I was there for me ... ako lang naman mag-isa di ba? Oh wait, kami lang pala ni Lala ang magkasama. Do you even know that she misses you every day? Ni mag-greet lang sa birthday niya hindi mo magawa tapos kung pagsabihan mo ako ngayon parang nandyan ka lang lagi. You're not a saint ... you're not even a good Dad ... you're a pathetic one. Kaya mabuti umalis na kayo ni Mama at hayaan niyo na ako, dun lang naman kayo magaling eh." RJ told his Dad, finally releasing the gigantic ball of anger and frustration he kept inside his chest for so long. He stared at his father and realized he left him speechless. RJ took a deep breath and unclenched his fists.
"Maine, Kirby and I are going out. You're not welcome here ... you can back to Lala and tell her what I told you ... or better yet, apologize to her ... please, she loves you so much. I don't." he uttered before walking away.
