Chapter 25

  As Ja'far and Sora held him, Sin and Mystras stood in front of the scene. Everyone present had a shocked face. 

"Ja'far...you didn't...slip back into your old habits of killing people, did you?!" Sin said shocked

"I didn't." Ja'far said, giving him a blank look

"Man Sin, you really don't trust Ja'far." Sora said

"Of course I put my trust in him!" He put his hand on his chest, closing his eyes with a proud look. "I'm just worried he'll go back to killing people..."

"Sin, I won't." Ja'far still had a blank look

"Still...but what in the world is going on here? Why would someone who seemed just fine die so suddenly?" As Sin questioned himself, someone put a cloth on top of the young boy's face while everyone stood/kneeled around him, crying. "He was with us all day and he seemed like a healthy young man. Is this even possible...? Even if we asked his friends, I doubt there was any sort of chronic illness involved."

"I wonder if this is one of those mysterious sudden deaths with no apparent cause..." Mystras said

"No, I felt a bad vibe coming from him and saw somethin' struck him." Sora announced. Before Sin could question her more, they overheard people, the older generation, talking about the curse, questioning if it was 'the third one this month'.

"Curse? Are they talking about the rage of the former king that we heard about at the palace?" Mystras said

"Our current king is mistaken after all..." man 1 said. "It would have been better if we stuck to our old policies of not interacting with foreigners."

"The former king must be angered by the presence of outsiders in our country. After all, didn't he die after he got involved with those travelers...?!" man 2 said

"Sinbad, the villagers are staring at us...!" Mystras whispered to Sin

'They're getting suspicious of us... What should we do?' Sin thought, worried

  As Sora heard this, she balled her fists. Before she could go up to the men, someone shouted.

"Calm down, everyone!" Kneeling down beside the corpse, the mysterious person checked the body. "Don't worry. This isn't something like a curse. It's undoubtedly murder." Flabbergasted, the older generation asked who she was. As for Sin, he knew exactly who they were.

"Yo-your guest...!" the innkeeper said. "This is the person. The one who said she needed to speak with you..." referring to Sin

'Serendine?!' Sin thought. With Sora, she looked between Sin and the mysterious girl. She question herself of their relationship.

"My apologies. But I couldn't just ignore this situation..." She held out her arm towards the older generation. "Please take a look at his body...There aren't any obvious external wounds. However...there is a single puncture wound. This is a mark left by a poisonous needle." It was on his left arm. "He only just died, but if you take into consideration the fact that his body temperature has dropped more quickly than usual, and that rigor mortis is starting to set in... That means it was most likely a variety of poison that affected his heart. If you mix Gipros Grass, commonly found in northern regions, with the body fluids of the Ofuki Frog and then boil the mixture...you cann create a deadly poison that causes no symptoms until just before death. It wouldn't be easy to make in this area, and it's a poison that leaves no traces in the body...so it's impossible to know for sure. But, this was definitely murder. In's not a 'curse'!" This shocked the older generation. "We should consider this situation calmly without being deceived by this trickery...Any objections?" They were speechless. "If you understand the situation, hurry up and call the police. We'll give them custody over the body and crime scene."
