"They're just brats...! What the heck?!" the leader said
"Surround them! Your opponent are children! Get them!" Another said
Continuing to slash them, they were having a tough time. "We can't! He's using some weird style of swordsmanship and she's using fire magic!" We can't even get close to them!"
"What should we do, boss?!"
As Sharrkan continued to fight, he was positive he could win. 'I can do this... My swordsmanship can get past them!' He looked towards Sora, noticing her pace slowing down. 'Sora...'
'Dang it! Not at a time like this! C'mon, just a little more!' Even if the poison didn't effect her much, it was still in her system.
"Sora, it's okay! I can take care of them on my own! So, go rest!"
"No! I'm leaving you!"
While they fought, the Slave Trader spoke towards the boss. "Oh dear...why don't you try using your head a little?"
"What'd you say?!"
"It'll be fine. Look at your opponent." This caught his attention. "He's got some talent, but he's still only a child... If he keeps fighting, sooner or later..." Just as he said this, Sharrkan attempted to move but his legs gave out from underneath him.
"Sharrkan!" Sora looked at him, confused. He tried to get back up, but his legs wouldn't cooperate.
"He's stopped..."
"Moving?"
"Naturally. The child is fighting while trying to defend the Fanalis behind him...including the girl. Faced with this many opponents, he'll quickly exhaust himself. It seems he lacks actual fighting experience...and this must be the limit of his stamina."
"What 'bout the girl?"
"Naturally, the poison is still in her system...though, I question just how far she will stand for it to take effect. However, no matter how you look at it, she will falter."
Grinning, the Boss walked forwards with his underlings. "In that case, this will be quick." Sharrkan was breathing in and out. "Since you only want the Fanalis, it's all right...if we kill this brat, right?!"
'Oh no! My legs...won't move!' Awaiting for the impact, he closed his eyes. However, it never came. Opening them, he saw Sora get cut on her shoulder while Masrur kicked the man, shocking everyone. "Masrur?! Sora?!" And with that, Sora held her bloodied shoulder and fell to the ground. Sharrkan was quick to catch her.
"That poison should have immobilized you...so how...?!"
"Poison...you mean this?" Arms outstretched, he revealed them to be bitten with blood gushing out. "I still feel a little numb, but...it's not a problem."
'He bit his own arms so that the poison would leave his system as he bled?!' The Slave Leader's teeth clenched with anger. "You monster."
"Hmph...not bad." Though Sharrkan was smirking, it faltered when he looked at Sora's grinning face. "Sora..." Setting her head on the ground, gently, he stood beside Masrur, both prepared to attack. "Maybe a little blood loss helped you cool off a bit, huh?"
"Maybe..."
"Oh well. Thanks to you, my strength's returned, so now...let's defeat these guys!" With that
Looking towards Sora, Sharrkan gave her a reassuring smile. "Leave it to us, Sora."
"Okay! Beat their buts for me!" With that, they fought with all the strength they had left.
Meanwhile~~~~~~
"I see... That is unmistakably a scar left by a slave collar..." The chief's brows furrowed while Sin adjusted his cloak. "So that means you really-"
Ja'far spoke for Sin. "Yes. Our Master fell from his life as the head of a trading company into a life of slavery. He's regained his freedom now, but he was once so brainwashed that he'd begun to lose his sense of self..."
"I learned a lot during my time as a slave; how it felt to be one of many used only to serve the whims of the few... Those last days and the cruelty of that fate..." Sin's fists clenched, shaking. "Knowing how it feels first-hand, I can't just turn a blind eye. That's why...I want to save those who are suffering... I want to change this world where people trample others underfoot."
"...And you say you want to save us, too..." The Torrans spoke to their chief.
"...I wonder if you got through to them." As Ja'far said this, Sin awaited their answer. Ja'far turned towards Sin; something occurred to him. "It just occurred to me that Masrur, Sharrkan, and Sora have been gone for a while."
"Now that you mention it, that's true..."
"What's that commotion? It's coming from that direction..." Everyone turned towards where the noise was coming from.
Back with Sora, Sharrkan, and Masrur, they won the battle and tied the men up.
"Capture complete!" Sharrkan wiped the sweat coming from his forehead. "I'm quite capable when I put my mind to it."
"...I was wrong...I shouldn't have called you weak..." Masrur looked down. "You weren't bad...with a sword... You also...kinda saved me... Thanks...Sharrkaan."
Smiling, Sharrkan tilted his head. "Really...you don't listen to people...and just run off on your own. Do you have any idea what would've happened if I wasn't here to help?...But." He raised his fist to his face, looking at it, smiling. "Now I understand... There's something I've really wanted to tell you." Masrur looked at him. "Masrur...you know, I've noticed something a lot during our journey...you..." Before he could react, Sharrkan put his thumb towards his face, anger writted in his face. "You don't grasp the fact that I'm older and should be your mentor, do you?! I'm older! You're younger! Isn't your attitude towards me a little strange?!" He was scaring Masrur and Sora, who was laying on one of the camels. "Since our very first meeting, you've been using such informal language and addressing me rudely. And you never pay attention to what I say! And I've had enough of you poking fun at me!"
"Huh...but I was part of the Trading Company before you, so...I should be your mentor..."
"Whaaat?! That's not how it works! People are supposed to show at least SOME respect to their elders!" Sighing, he almost calmed down. "Got it? You should address me as your mentor. Mentor Sharrkan."
"Huh...Mentor Sharrkan...? Then I have a question..."
"Ask away?!"
"If Sora's older than both of us...how come she doesn't care about all of that?"
"W-well...That's how she wants to be addressed, so you don't question it!"
"Okay...Mentor Sharrkan..."
"Yes, that's it! Now you just need to work on your attitude and start speaking more politely!" He was smiling. What they didn't know was that Sin and Ja'far were watching to whole scenario.
"What are those two doing?" Sin was pushing away a branch so they could get a better look.
"Umm...I think I should probably stop my arms from bleeding soon..." As Sharrkan was holding Masrur in a head-lock, Ja'far sweat dropped.
"Somehow...he hasn't changed at all, has he?"
"...Well, it's all good if they're safe, right...?"
