It's an event when you spend a holiday with someone else's family besides your own. It's a unique adventure when you celebrate the holidays with the Grays. Eight people in one house made for a fascinating dynamic. You throw in added family members, making the holidays pure chaos.

Pat and Nate cooked dinner as the boys watched the Lions lose again. I'm not too fond of sports. I curled up in a chair, reading a book. They would yell each time the ref called or miscalled a play.

Ding Dong!

"Will someone answer the door?" Nate asked.

The brothers ignored the doorbell due to the football game. I didn't feel comfortable enough to answer it either. The person got impatient, lying on the doorbell.

"My family can't be bothered. Here, let me get it." Nate walked by and answered the door.

"Well, it's about damn time you answered the door, big brother."

"Jonas! What are you doing here?"

The boys stopped and walked over to find their Uncle Jonas at the door with two guys.

"Hey, Uncle Jonas." Nash hugged the guy.

"Hey, Nash, Nixon, double troubles, and little man," Jonas said. "Will you let us in, or should we freeze to death?" He smirked.

"Come in, Jonas. Where's Karen?"

"At her parents. She didn't want to make the trip. So, I brought Jace and Jamie with me. Go mingle with boys while I catch up with my big brother."

"Whatever," Jaime said.

Two guys walked in with the brothers. They looked similar in features. I'm guessing they're cousins since the guy named Jonas called Nate his big brother.

"Who's playing?" One guy asked Nash while glancing at the TV.

"The Lions and Packers." Nash took a seat on the couch.

"Packers suck ass. I hope we kick their asses." The guy rubbed his hands together.

"Who's the chick?" The other guy asked Nixon.

"That is Maggie. She lives with us and is Nash's girl, so don't even think about it, Jaime."

"I don't know what you mean."

"Sure, you don't. If you make a move on Maggie, Nash won't hesitate to put you into the ground."

"So, uh, did you ever try?"

"No."

"Well, damn. I would have hit it."

"Uh, Jaime. One more comment from your mouth about Mags, and I'll knock out your teeth." Nash glanced at Jaime while the other guy, I'm guessing was Jace, chuckled.

"Psh, whatever." He went into the kitchen.

"I was good with being an only child. My parents thought I needed a playmate," Jace said.

"Tell me about it." Nash rolled his eyes.

I went to get a drink. Jonas helped Nate and Pat with dinner while Jamie stood with his back against the counter. I didn't know the Gray family well. I knew the boys and Nate and Pat while growing up. Their cousins came over, but I had never met them.

I walked over to the cupboard. "Excuse me."

Jamie shifted so I could get a glass. "You're the neighbor girl who followed Nash and Nixon around like a puppy dog, aren't you?"
