(This is set in modern day, and everyone is human. It also contains strong language.)
Pit walked at a brief pace down the busy street. He had decided to help out with the open night preparations in his college. It was almost time for dinner, his hunger grew as he thought about what could be waiting for him. As he dodged through the crowd, a sign in a shop caught his eye.
"50% off Nintendo Games. This week only!"
Pit's face lit up. "It's Friday!" he thought. He made a quick decision, it was best to a least check it out before the sale ended. He entered the shop excitedly. "I'm sure Mom won't mind me being a little late..." he said to himself as he made his way over to the shelf full of Nintendo games. He scanned them eagerly, hoping to see something he hadn't already bought. "Ah-" he gasped, picking up a new copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. He hadn't got around to buying the Switch version. He checked his wallet, he had more than enough for a little treat. He smiled to himself as he walked up to the counter. He was admiring the artwork on the cover as he walked, he only looked up when he arrived. He looked up to see a young cashier. Pit let out a sequel and dropped the cover.

The person in front of him... looked just like him! The only difference was his black and purple hair. He didn't even look up as Pit approached. He was busy texting on his phone. "Uh..." Pit could barely make a noise, he was completely stunned. "Huh? Oh," the boy said. He quickly stuffed his phone in his pocket. "What do you want?" He couldn't sound less interested if he tried. "You- why do you look like me?" Pit asked bluntly. The boy just rested his head in one hand and shrugged. "How is he so calm about this?" He thought as he fumbled to pick up the game he dropped earlier. Pit handed the game to him. He took it without a word and typed something into the computer in front of him. "You have noticed we look similar, right?" Pit pushed the issue again. He sighed, "And? Who cares." "Who cares?! It's weird!" Pit exclaimed, causing some of the other costumers to turn heads. "Jeez dude, calm it. Are you paying for this or what?" He asked impatiently. Pit took out his wallet and handed over the money, not averting his gaze. The boy took it, eager to get this exchange over with. "I mean you have different hair but-" "Oh, just drop it already," he sneered. "I can't! You look exactly-" "Fuck off!" He shouted, sliding the game across the counter angrily.

Pit grabbed it before it fell. "H-hey! You can't talk to me like that!" Pit shouted back. "Woah... what's going on here, Pit?" An unfamiliar voice sounded. A man in the same uniform as the boy appeared from behind the counter. "Wha- How do you-" "I told you not to call me that," the boy sneered, crossing his arms. "His name is Pit?!" Pit's mind ached as he tried to figure all of this out. "Are you OK, sir? Is this employee giving you trouble?" The man asked, looking over at Pit. He composed himself and rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, "Um, no... It's fine. I'll get going now." Pit turned quickly, dodging the other customers. As he opened the door, he glimpsed back. The boy was back to using his phone, as if nothing had happened.

Pit hurried home. His mind was racing, but he tried to just forget about it. "There's no point of worrying about that guy... but why did he look like me? And his name was Pit..." he thought to himself as he walked up to his front gate. He punched in the code and they opened slowly. He slipped inside. It was a long walk through the garden, finally he arrived at the front door. He took out his key and let himself in. The large empty entrance hall greeted him once again. "I'm home~" he called out as he closed the door behind him. Pit made his way up the stairs, not expecting an immediate reply. His room was just to the left at the top. "Phew!" He exclaimed as he threw the door open. He discarded his bag and picked up the game he had bought. "I wonder-" "Pit?"

Palutena, Pit's mother, appeared in the doorway. "Where have you been all evening?" She asked. "Oh, I was helping out with the open day prep," he answered, setting the game down. "That's tomorrow?" "Yep." "What time? I just invited someone up for dinner tomorrow..." she trailed off, taking about her phone and checking the screen. Pit thought about it for a second, "I think it starts at 8.00pm. Who did you invite?" Palutena put her phone back in her pocket, "Just a friend from my old job. She is bringing her two kids too. One of them is your age." Pit frowned, he hated meeting new people like this. "You might get along. Now come on, I'm starving!" She exclaimed as she left. Pit looked over at the game. "I guess I'll have to wait..." He followed Palutena down the stairs to get dinner.
