"Thanks for inviting us over," Viridi said, shaking hands with Palutena. "It was a pleasure," she said smiling, cueing Pit to say something. "Ah- You're welcome back anytime," Pit complied, flashing a friendly smile. The awkward tension had dulled significantly since the apology. Palutena and Pit waved as they walked down the path. Palutena closed the door and let out a big sigh, "I'm so tired." Pit chuckled and checked the time. "We have half an hour," he said, making a b-line for his room. "Only?! I need to redo my hair..." she complained, laughing.
Pit changed back into his uniform. He looked in the mirror and checked his own hair, it was as unruly as it always was. He ran his fingers through it and smiled, trying to tame it would take too long. He picked up his bag and checked he had everything. "Oh-" he gasped, grabbing his speech. He gave it another read through, suddenly feeling nervous. He took a deep breath and placed it gently in the bag. "Is it good enough?" He thought out loud. "Of course it is!" Palutena exclaimed as she burst into to room unannounced. "M-mom! Knock first!" Pit stammered. She was holding a brand new tie. "Sorry! Come here," she motioned him over. He did as he was asked, and she replaced his old tie with the new one.
"You're really growing up..."
"It's only an open night!"
"You're giving a speech! That's a huge deal... My little boy is all grown up," she cooed, hugging him tightly. "M-mom..." Pit mumbled, his chest tightening as he held back tears. Palutena sniffled loudly and checked her phone, "Hurry, we're going to be late!"Palutena stopped the car right outside the entrance. "Jump! I'll park and meet you in there," she shouted after Pit, who was already half way up the stairs. "See you then!" He called back, dashing past the visitors. He got a few puzzled looks, but he was focused on making it in time. "There he is!" Gaol shouted over to the others when she spotted him. "Sorry I'm...late," Pit breathed, hunching over. "Hurry! Get your bag off and get up there," she commanded, pushing him up the stage stairs. Pit grabbed the speech and threw his bag back, hoping it would have a soft landing. His teacher was waiting there for him. He was having a heated discussion with Magnus. "I'm just saying, you should probably consider dying it," Magnus said matter-of-factly. "I never- my hair is perfectly- Pit!" The pair turned to face him. Pit bowed, "Sorry I'm late, Sir." Magnus gave Pit a "You owe me big" look. Pit laughed awkwardly, sitting in his designated seat.
The curtain rose, and the gathered audience grew silent. Pit looked over the crowd as the professor spoke. He spotted Palutena waving up at him, he suddenly felt his nerves ease. "And with that, we have a few words from one of our very own students," he said, motioning to Pit. A loud applause erupted as he walked onto the podium. "Welcome to Skyworld Academy, I'm Pit," he spoke as clearly as he could, remembering to smile. His speech wasn't long, but he was happy to finally finish up, "We hope you enjoy your visit. Thank you all very much listening." The applause erupted once more. Pit stood down, feeling embarrassed from all of the attention. He turned around and dashed down the steps to where Magnus and Gaol were waiting. "That was perfect!" "Yeah, well done, man," Magnus patted him on the back. "T-thanks guys," Pit smiled wide, feeling proud. "We can celebrate after the demonstration," Gaol said, dragging Magnus with her. "Aw man..." Pit laughed and waved after them. "Oh my... ah there it is-" Pit bent over to pick up bag, but collided heads with someone half way.
"Ow!" Pit whined, grabbing his forehead. "What the hell?"
Pit gasped, "Pit?" Sure enough, Dark Pit was looking back at him with an annoyed expression. "It's Dark Pit, I should have known it was yours," he said, picking up the bag and throwing it at him. Pit caught it awkwardly, "What are you doing here?" Dark Pit put his hands in his pockets and shrugged, "Just checking out the place."
"I feel like you're stalking me."
"Shut up. Nice speech," he smirked. Pit felt himself blush, "Uh, thanks... You heard that, Huh?" Dark Pit just grunted and turned around. "Wait! Um..." now or never, "Do you want to hang out sometime?" Dark Pit whipped around, not expecting the sudden question.
"Sure."
"Uh, sorry for that I thought- WAIT WHAT?"
